A friendly atmosphere. Big language barrier, lots of miscommunication regarding my telephone order. Called ahead was told my order would be readying 20-minutes, got there in fifteen, called from my car to find out whether my order was ready, I was told that it wasn't but it would be in 10-minutes...with an apology. Sat in my cat for an additional 20-minutes because they were very busy with indoor and out door dining, and customers waiting inside for their take out orders. Went inside after 20-minutes but my order wasn't ready and I was told that they had no order from me. It was very chaotic, lot of confusion, frustration on my part bc I hadn't eaten all day and patiently waited for my order. Finally someone stepped in who had a little bit more communication skills and quickly prepared my order which cost more than what I was told over the phone when I initially placed the order. Finally, my order was correct and ready to go...but no bags! I had to take out a big order on a box platter...ok I understood, they ran out of bags. I didn't care at this point I just wanted to eat. IN THEIR FAVOR: I have been ordering take out and dining at Mi Tierrita Restaurants since the late 90's. Always clean, staff has always been courteous, food is well done, tasty and hot. There has always been a short wait for dining in. Great atmosphere, and they dont rush you out after you're done eating. I have never witnessed an employee getting upset. They serve to please. Great place to eat...the next best to a home cooked meal...generous portion size too. Good for a romantic first date dinner, family gathering or a birthday celebration. Menu has a wide variety and is reasonably priced. Language barrier but...
Read moreNot to happy with this place. Very upset. Food came out cold and not up to par. I would not be returning to this place. I was hoping for this location would be better than the Brentwood one but to my surprise it stands right next to it with the lack of everything it needs to fix. The smell was awesome doe. That's probably the only thing that was good about this place. The location is small and tight fitting. I ordered the "Bandeja tipica"The rice was under cooked. The beans where good can't lie. The steak I had was thicker then normal and cooked medium rare. Not the way I like it for the cut. The chicharron was missing some meat pieces and not cooked well it was just a complete upset. My server was not attentive at all. The place has such a cold breeze in it that the food does not keep it's heat and the tightness of doesn't help when the servers are racing past you to serve they also bring a breeze that helps makes your food cold. The bathroom was not cleaned and stunk of urine. I'm sorry but I just have nothing good to say besides the smell fools you and the beans where tasty. Enter at your own risk. Hopefully ur experience is...
Read moreThe cuisine is supposedly Colombian, but since I am decidedly Anglo-Saxon, I cannot tell the difference from Dominican food. Both are delicious. The portions here are large, and if I can eat all that they give me, including the large side dish of rice and beans (arroz con pollo), I want a medal for "pigging out". Usually I ask for a Styrofoam thingy to haul the rest home. Delicious food, never a dish did I not like here.
I am overdue to visit again.
Just FYI, there are very few restaurants that I like in the Brentwood area. I may grab a bite at a bodega, but Mi Tierrita is delicious, plentiful, affordable, with excellent service unlike those in the surrounding area. Hence, it gets five stars. Give it six stars for the clean restaurant and clean restrooms. You won't be disappointed unless you were looking for corned beef and cabbage. This is not Anglo-Saxon cuisine. Try It, you'll like it.
NOTE: If you come here on a Friday after work or Sunday after church, then you may have several parties ahead of you lined up as you enter. The rear door is where you head from the parking lot. Your wait is usually a short...
