We had seen many pictures of the interior online and had heard good things about the food from a Facebook group but we were rather disappointed. They are obviously understaffed as we waited about five minutes or so before anyone approached us at the front to seat us. The main area looked lovely, we were early so plenty of tables, but instead we were seated in the back area. This area is unfinished, unfinished drywall and raw wood. Not something that I would have thought twice about but given that the main dining room is absolutely beautiful, it was a stark and disappointing contrast. In hindsight, I should have asked to sit in the main area since this was a low-key but celebratory dinner. Service at first was slow, a bit of a wait for the pot of tea, but the server was good the rest of our experience. As for the food, overall we found it lacking much flavor. The fried rice lacked seasoning(?), soy sauce(?) or something that would have made it more than just rice/veg/pork and there was very little of the veg/pork in proportion to the rice. The scallion pancakes were rather oily but flavorful. My wife's egg roll was almost entirely filled with cabbage, again very little pork. I had the sa cha beef and while there was some mild pepper in the back of my throat, the rest of the sauce lacked any ginger/garlic savoriness. My wife and daughter thought their dishes were adequate, good but bland. We were surprised by the lack of vegetarian dishes. There were some but no fried rice or lo mein without meat. Surprising! Perhaps it was the anticipation based upon the reviews and photos that the experience couldn't live up to. Maybe if the area we were seated in was finished like the rest of the restaurant we would have been too distracted to focus on the blandness of the dishes. Honestly, the atmosphere cannot make up for the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy coworkers and I ordered several meals yesterday while working at an urgent care since we are essential and working Christmas Eve and Christmas. My friendās chicken lo mein had a live SNAIL in it. Several of us ordered the chicken lo mein. Was told by the owner that sometimes the snails are in the vegetables. So none of us ate our meals because there were vegetables in most of ours and not to mention we lost appetite and desire for the food after discovering the moving snail. Called the owner, they were busy so he said he would refund the full amount acknowledging that the snail was not supposed to be in there. However he called me back at 9:30 pm the same night and said $76 was too much to refund and that he would only refund partial. Called back this morning, now he is saying we should have brought the food back so they could take pictures for the insurance. None of this was mentioned on our call yesterday because he was busy and was probably not paying attention to what I was saying on the phone. Of course we donāt have our food with us today it was thrown out while we were at work. So he refused to refund anything at all and hung up on me. I understand restaurants are struggling right now, however something like this which violates health codes and questions the safety of all of their food there needs to be addressed appropriately, not with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWanted Chinese food as a light lunch with my best friends and decided to stop here for a quick bite. On our way into the parking area, I did realized that the restaurants back exterior was run down and unfinished wall with wood studs is discerting. A few of us was somewhat hungry so we decided to give this place a try. The restaurant was pretty empty when we walk in so getting a table was the only quick thing. Thereafter, the services and food arrival time was somewhat slow. While waiting for our food, I noticed some part of the interior of the restaurant looks like still under repairs. It was also a bit hard getting around bc of several up and down steps within the seating area so be careful. Food took a while before it was served but, not worth the wait. For the price charged, the portion were small and the taste was just average. Everything tasted sweet from overloaded MSG bc halfway thru the meal, we all continue to drink a lot of water. Overall, I have had much better Chinese food from many other take out Chinese restaurants. Therefore, I will not be returning to...
