Everything was ok. I wasn't ecstatic; nor was I disappointed. I did notice a few things however... For a sit down restaurant I feel that they should have linen napkins for your lap; not cheap paper napkins, especially for the prices you are paying. I wasn't feeling the gold flatware/dishes/cups either, which were all on the small side. And I would've preferred wooden chopsticks that are disposable over the metal ones they have. The side dishes that I know for a typical Korean BBQ place fell way short of what I expected in variety and size. The staff there, although pleasant, does not know the menu at all, which I feel is pretty essential if you're going to work there and take orders. I suggest being very careful when ordering, especially if you have a food allergy, because the menu is very vague. Also, when you order meat to cook it comes with rice, soup and egg. One would think that they are individual servings (especially the soup), however, it is one small bowl of soup for the table. I don't know how an entire table is supposed to share one small bowl of soup, not to mention that it's not exactly sanitary. The egg is served the same way. Luckily the rice is individual bowls. There is no seasoning or sauces of any kind on the table. You only get a little tiny sauce dish for your entire meal. We also dealt with 3 different people... one who sat us and took the drink order, then someone else who came over to discuss food (after the first person couldn't explain the ingredients correctly and yes, even the 2nd person had to go back to the kitchen to ask), and then someone else who brings the food and comes back no less than every 5 minutes waving an infrared thermometer over the food. They could use some work on coming over to check to see if you need anything; another drink at the very least. They definitely have the thermometer thing down though... LOL. On a good note, I will say the food was fresh and tasty and they pleasantly serve a prebiotic drink at the end with your check. I'm guessing they do not serve dessert of any kind as we were not offered or asked and I don't recall seeing any...

The Banchan is excellent (admittedly the kimchi is OK, but I prefer a more acidic/sour kimchi but my pref does not take away a star). The pickled jalapeños and onions were delicious and my fav.
The meats are very high quality and the service is excellent. The staff cook for you and are very attentive (shout-out Chen and staff!)
The non-bbq options were probably my FAVORITE. The japchae was excellent and the soondoobu was sooo good it was surprising, better than some popular chains here in the northeast (I'm talking about SGD and arguably better than BCD). I'll be back for the kalbi tang and others, woo!
This place is brand spanking new (written 11/21/24). Give them a try, they'll only get...
Read moreCan’t say enough about the meal we had tonight at Choi’s Korean BBQ in Mahopac! I love that I can look in my own backyard instead of having to head five towns over for a meal like this! We ordered the premium beef platter, which comes with a variety of cuts like ribeye, short rib, brisket, etc. The meat was incredibly fresh with beautiful marbling, which cooked up juicy and tender. That particular beef platter came with steamed egg and various banchan (side dishes) which accompanied the beef beautifully. There were amazing garnishes too, like Maldon sea salt from England, and various dipping sauces. The restaurant is staffed by very friendly people who are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. This place is worthy of a...
