Last month I traveled to the US with my daughters, Holly and Ellie, to visit my niece Leona and her husband Michael and see their new restaurant, The Irish American, in Mahopac. We had such a great time!
The food was excellent - authentic Irish dishes throughout. It was hard to pick a favorite because everything we tried was so good. The onion rings are a must-try, absolutely outstanding!
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and thereās even a replica of an Irish thatched cottage on site, complete with an old-time black bicycle , (all the way from Kilkeel) parked outside. The cottage serves as a shop selling Irish food and memorabilia.
Congratulations to Leona and Michael - the place is truly a credit to them, and Iād highly recommend it to anyone...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHighly recommend the Irish American! We got take out and went for dinner twice in one week and we were very happy! The food and drinks were delicious and such a great bonus to be able to get some delicious treats and goodies from Ireland in the little market they have. The owner and staff are absolutely lovely and great service! The atmosphere makes you feel like you are right in Ireland!
We had the Irish curry, bangers n mash, cottage pie, and fish n chips! The mushrooms and cocktail sausage and curry app were delightful as well!! The wee ones menu for the kids was also great - my two year old was licking his plate clean! They have Guinness on tap and lots of other great cocktails and mocktails...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy new favorite place! Moved up here from Yonkers a little over a year ago and missed all the Irish pubs and markets there. This restaurant has all the Irish music I grew up on going to my grandmaās house listening to and the food is amazing. I have tried several items on the menu and all are delicious. The market in the restaurant is full of all the Irish goodies I missed when visiting Ireland. This will be my new place to go. The owners and staff are so friendly and inviting. Come and visit you...
