We heard about this place and immediately decided we were going to try it. My husband was excited because we had visited an AYCE sushi restaurant around Goshen, NY and kept commenting how he wished we had one here. Well, his wishes came true!
The restaurant was tucked back in a smaller Plaza. Our first impressions were that it was very clean and we were greeted warmly. We had our two kiddos with us, which they asked us their ages. Kids 7-12 were a different price ($15.99) than our 4 year old, who was $9.99.
The menu wasn't anything exotic, but we also didn't come in looking for something like that. While we like to try new things, we aren't adventurous with our sushi and tend to stick to the same basic rolls. We ordered edamame, crab Rangoon and chicken gyoza. All were delicious, came out quickly and were smaller portions. Our kiddos each got the miso soup and I ordered the Kani salad. Both did not disappoint.
For our sushi- we ordered the Mermaid rolls, Volcano roll, Las Vegas roll and a few Philadelphia rolls for the kids. All were what we were expecting, and the kids loved the Las Vegas roll - branching out for the win! We ordered a few of the sushi singles (salmon and tuna), they were as expected.
We also ordered the peppered tuna and the salmon bites. I was a fan of the salmon, my husband thought the tuna was "too peppery," which I never thought I'd hear out of my I-put-pepper-on-everything husband's mouth. I actually thought it was tasty.
Finally- we decided to try something different and ordered the Monkey roll. This roll was deep fried banana (in skin, but I could be wrong?) with crab meat and mayo over the top. I tried to get behind the taste but ultimately, I was not a fan. My husband echoed that sentiment. I think this roll has had mixed reviews amongst patrons. Try it for yourself!
At the end, the waitress asked if our kids would like any ice cream. So we ended the night on a sweet note.
Overall - it was a great experience. The wait staff was nice and the food came out fast. We would definitely go again and maybe try some of the...
Read moreGreat idea for AYCE place but it comes with a price for Saturday lunch. My teenage daughter (adult price, child are 11 or younger) and I paid $47 that includes tax, no tip. I had no problem not including one bc our server seem to have an attitude the whole time we were there. I felt as though we waited longer for her to return then others and this place wasn't packed. If anyone should have an attitude it should have been me bc I was charge for the DINNER price at 12:30 in the afternoon. This place doesn't even open until NOON on the weekends. I guess understand why they would; they have to make money too at $19.95 an adult. Most of the food choices contains run of the mill ingredients such as avocado, cream cheese, and imitation crab. Of course there's soups, rice and noodles dishes too. There's Eel, Mackerel, veggie, Salmon, Shrimp, Tuna, and Octopus for sushi options (both cooked or raw). Pespi products are available here and I am not sure what else bc our server was short with us. Wide selection from our menu front and back over 60 numbered chioces. Very modern and new place to sit down if you enjoy sushi. The other servers were very polite to their customers. Story Time: A young father with three young (less then 5 yrs old) children tried to clean up the mess they made at the table but the server kept telling him it was ok, he could clean it up. It was a sight to see him as he was on his hands and knees picking the food off the floor. When they left the staff only had the KINDNESS words about how he was a good father. Honestly wasn't expecting such positivity about the family bc some seem annoyed by...
Read moreDon’t go to this place unless you enjoy being force-fed piles of sticky white rice. They are “all you can eat” and are insanely obsessed with making sure they squeeze every drip of profit out of your experience.
I ordered six pieces of nigiri. They arrived on enormous wedges of rice taller than the height of my two thumbs. The fish was a tiny shred balanced atop a giant white mountain.
I cut my portions down to a reasonable amount of rice only to have the waitress arrive table side (before I had even tried to order more food!) to tell me that “you will have to clear your plate before you order any more.” See photo below for the pile of rice they were insisting I eat before I was “allowed” to order any more)
When I objected, she sent the manager over to harangue me some more. I pointed out to them that they were surely getting their money’s worth from me since for the $26 flat rate all I had ordered was a miso soup, a salad and six pieces of nigiri but the idea of a reasonable compromise for a customer who was clearly not trying to rip them off did not occur apparently.
Cheapness abounded elsewhere in the menu as well. I ordered a shredded cucumber salad with crab only to be served a bowl of cucumber (no crab in sight). Meanwhile they were very perturbed that my 12 year old daughter (who had eaten lunch earlier) was not going to be eating and gave her the fifth degree and big warnings about “not sharing” before allowing her to sit with us.
I’ve seen “all you can eat” done in a reasonable way but these folks are out of their minds. Take your...
