One day my dad told me that he was in the mood for Mexican food someday soon. So, I looked up Mexican restaurants online when I suddenly remembered this place. Me and my mom were planning on coming to this brand years ago, but some things happened. Yesterday, me and dad came here. The place was small, but had nice decorations. The staff were friendly and made it easy to order. The person who took our order made a great suggestion in what entrée to get. I didn't really feel like deciding myself since I didn't know much about the entrées. The soup of the day sounded good, so I got that too, along with dad getting an order of churros. We each got a bottle of Pepsi to go with our food. The entrée I got looked like steak tacos to me, but I wasn't sure if they were really that, since the meat was pretty tender for steak. The tacos had a nice savory taste to them. The soup was delicious and not too saltly. The churro I had was small, but sweet and tasty. The Pepsi I had was also sweet and delicious. The room was at room temperature and we were seated next to a flat-screen TV that was showing a football game between the Colts and the Chiefs. My dad said that the Chiefs were winning. My dad shared some of his burrito with me, and that tasted good too. In general, we had...
Read moreMy wife stopped and picked up lunch. Brought it home. I had three beef tacos, they were all together, wrapped in aluminum foil. When I tried to take one, they were stuck together, the tortillas were mushy and stuck to the foil. I wound up eating them with a fork. There was plenty of filling and it tasted okay. My wife got a quesadilla and a beef enchilada. The quesadilla was burned on both sides and tasted like a grilled cheese. The tortilla was very moist and floppy. My wife took a bite of her huge enchilada and did not like it. I was full from my 3 tacos so the enchilada went in the trash can. Total cost for 3 beef tacos, 1 quesadilla and 1 enchilada was $37. Not the price one would expect for Mexican food, especially when there isn’t any table service.
When she offered to go to Itacate, I was expecting more of a Taco Bell experience. The food was authentic Mexican and good, but not what my palate was expecting. They should wrap the tacos individually to prevent them from sticking together and poke holes in the top of the take out containers to allow the steam to escape and keep the tortillas from turning into paste. I would definitely go there again for authentic...
Read moreFirst time ordering from Itacate tonight through Grubhub delivery and while the food was quite good, we were disappointed that some of the rice mixed throughout wasn’t cooked fully and was hard. Having randomly hard rice is not enjoyable and is actually scary because you can crack a tooth. We had to throw out our side of rice because it was likely also undercooked.
The digital menu also wasn’t accurate as my burrito didn’t include cheese and crema which is half of what I look forward to in a burrito or a taco.
*The beef tacos were chunks of beef vs. ground beef. My partner thought it would be ground beef. Each to their own.
That aside, the flavor of the food was very good, and the salsa was different than anything we’ve had. I can see us ordering again if the rice was fully cooked and it was clear what ingredients are or are not included when you order from their...
