I live in close proximity to this restaurant. I was walking in Congers Lake and had to use the restroom on a Sunday. No customers were around yet. I went in and asked if I may use their restroom. Owner said yes at first but started talking to me in a very mean way and even screaming as I was going towards the restroom. So, I asked him why he’s screaming at me and informed him that I’ve dined here a lot so I’m also one of their customers. He told me he’s never seen me before. I said since I was wearing a bucket hat and sunglasses that he can’t recognize me but he rudely insisted he’s never seen me. Meanwhile, I recognize him since my family participated in one of his Trivia Nights and our table won a gift card to dine here again. I clearly remember him since he had a big mouth while hosting.
So, I ended up not using the restroom and told him I changed my mind, which made him even ruder. Screaming still and with so much anger telling me I’m trespassing and to get out of his place. As I was walking out he walked towards the direction I was going (outwards) and came to me and grabbed my arm trying to push me out of the door. He even went close to my face and was talking above me. So, I said I’ll call the cops. He said go ahead because you’re trespassing. While I was talking to the Operator he rudely asked me to give him my phone so he could talk to them. I told him I will not let him touch my phone. I even asked the Operator if he hears the screaming.
I eventually went outside the restaurant and two cops responded. While I was speaking with the 1st Police Officer who responded, the Owner told me to get off his property. He was also rude to the Police Officer, who had no choice but to back up along my side. So, while I was doing my report… another Officer also arrived and they told him to stay away from my proximity because he was trying to come closer and interrupt my report and he was even very rude to the Police Officers (who by the way are also customers like me who live in the area). Then, at some point while working on my report, he said he was leaving. The Officers told him not to leave and to stay in the restaurant and wait for them in there.
Overall, I do not recommend supporting this place. It did look like he was having a bad day but doesn’t mean he can touch and grab a person’s arm and shove them out and say you’re trespassing - hmmm… a customer trespassing 🤔 or even rudely interrupt my 911 call by telling me to give him my phone so he can talk to the Operator? Make your own 911 report, if you want but you can’t take or touch my phone. Even rudely interrupting my report… where are your manners??.. tsk tsk.. It also doesn’t mean you can talk over me so close and right in front of my face while being rude and screaming.
Your restaurant is not located in NYC but in Rockland County. People who live in your area are customers. It’s a very friendly area. I’ve been going to Rick’s since 1994. It’s changed so much since the switch in ownership. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE until they learn customer relations and good manners. If you don’t want anyone using your restroom then you should put a tacky sign but I doubt you will since no one will support your restaurant if you start doing that. Again, this is Rockland County and not Manhattan. A little KINDNESS goes a long way here and so does RESPECT. That is how you earn new and repeat customers...
Read moreCame here with my sister for dinner. I first read all the reviews on google and yelp and decided I’ll give it a shot. When we first arrived at around 7pm, the front desk women told us to go find a table and sit down, and she will be right over. 20 minutes later and she never came and we didn’t have any menus or silverware or water! She seriously never came back to us even though she passed our table a few times. Anyway we spoke to a man who may have been a manager because he was wearing regular clothes instead of a restaurant tshirt and black pants, and he sincerely apologized and gave us a drink on the house. He checked back in on us later too. Our waitress, who was kind and soft spoken, came over and took our order. She had a lot of tables to wait on but she was always kind and came over whenever I grabbed her attention. My sister and I got our drinks and appetizer/starter fairly quickly, however we waited an hour for our dinner. We were starving by then and when my plate arrived it was the wrong meal. Luckily when I brought it to the attention of our kind waitress she acknowledged that it was wrong and quickly fixed it. Now when it comes to the actual taste and experience of the food, I wasn’t impressed at all. I had the bbq chicken and ribs with fries and cornbread. The chicken was bland, the ribs were just okay, and the cornbread was very dry. I tried to enjoy it with some butter but it just wasn’t good. The fries were the best part and those probably came out of a frozen bag. This isn’t a restaurant I would recommend or go back to. I appreciated the kind waitress and the man who apologized for us not receiving menus but other than that, there was nothing good...
Read moreRick's has a local ambiance combined with a menu fit for Manhattan. Whether you're into steaks, their extremely popular ribs, fish, or even low-carb meals, Rick's has them all. Booze you can get anywhere; come for the food!
But, speaking about booze: no matter if you have a liking for a specific drink that you may have heard about or seen someone order somewhere else, or something you've blended yourself, the professionally-trained "A-Team" behind the bar will put it together for you without batting an eye.
Plenty of room for those after soccer practice meals with the team and their families, but just as cozy for those first date dinners or a night out without the kids.
The popularity of Rick's can be expressed by the number of cars in the lots even on a weeknight (there's plenty of parking all around the building), and the fact that many of those cars have NJ license plates on them (the word has reached even down there!).
If you want to sit at the bar and watch sports on their many TVs while the above "A-Team" keeps your glass full, a night out with co-workers or the girls, or, for a more cerebral moment, talk about current events between meal courses (ask for "Senator James" for your server!), Rick's is the place.
Don't be fooled...
