As a server of 8 years, I was extremely disappointed by the service of the owner. I was excited to be visiting my hometown friend who lives right down the street. We were celebrating her getting a job and moving to VA. A friend of ours texted us that they were open and recommended we come. We walk in and he said he made last call. So we got one. My friend and 2 others walked in right after us and he said he made last call and that was it (aggressively and unwelcoming). Right after, he poured 2 glasses for a an older local man. He was blatantly talking poorly about us because we were young and he "doesn't get paid enough to do this." If I were to say this in front of guests at my job, I'd be fired. You made our whole group uncomfortable and upset. On top of it, he poured yet another beer for somebody else. Way to disappoint a whole group of 20 somethings who have all worked in the service industry and have supported your business from the beginning. Do better. I have worked in Croton myself for years, even on the same strip as Tapsmith. I won't be coming back here so you're...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe best pizza in Croton area. When you see the wood fired stove outside the restaurant, find some parking and order a pizza. I love their pepperoni with hot and sweet honey. The crust and the way they are cooked are the reason for the RAVE! Their bar staff has an great knowledge of beer
The couple who run this tavern are crazy for local sourcing. She drives down to the Bronx for dough and other ingredients. He scours the country side for the best local beer.
This is clearly a successful labor of love. As a further encouragement I will leave you with the fact that the wife is a famous NY celebrity who is determined to improve the town. Ask her about her...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy partner and I needed to kill some time before the pumpkin Blaze event. We wandered into this bar and at first it felt like it was a locals-only kind of joint.
Quickly thereafter we were chatting it up with other patrons, and the owner, Tracy, who was the most welcoming and friendliest chap.
The selection of ciders was small but nice, and the homemade pizza was unexpectedly excellent. A genuine hand crafted pizza, made with care, not a 1-ton professional kitchen-aid. I assume the beer is good, we're just not beer-drinkers.
An excellent and friendly place to hang out and kill time. We will make the trip out on the amtrak/mta the next time...
