This place USED TO be really good. I don't know what happened, maybe it was an overhaul of employees. Whatever the case, no one working there seems to know how to make a latte. I'm basing this on multiple visits, each time having a different, poor result. I always order lattes, which are about $6 for a large. They almost always foam the milk too much, so by the time I get home and the milk has settled, I have less than half a cup of latte in my large cup without having taken a single sip. (Image provided of completely untouched latte. I have not drank or removed any amount from the cup before taking the picture.)
Aside from completely and consistently ripping people off with overly foamed milk, sometimes the espresso tastes burnt. Their coffee beans are wonderful, which are roasted there. I've tried many different variations, but somewhere along the process of turning ground coffee into espresso they lose the plot.
The employees need to be taught how to properly make a latte, from start to finish. I don't really care if they've worked at Starbucks for a year or if they THINK they are doing a good job. They're not. They're making the place lose business, especially when another coffee shop opened in the area that has baristas whipping up much tastier and...
Read moreI’d give this place 2 stars, but the atmosphere and staff were great. It’s clearly popular among middle/high school students. It’s a pretty chill spot.
But my purchases were prepared in a untypical way. I ordered an ice chai latté and half the ice melted because the barista used hot water to make my drink. As a result I now have a lukewarm/room temperature drink. You can see in the photo that there’s no ice in the drink. If I can make a suggestion: just use a little hot water to mix the chai powder and finish the drink off with cold water. And consider using milk instead of water, since most chai lattes are made with milk. I saw that it said it was made with water but I assumed the powder must have been very rich? Anyway, milk would have made this drink perfect. I ended up adding a few creamers to mine once I got to my office and it’s a little better.
I also ordered a bagel with cream cheese. The barista didn’t toast the bagel so I asked if she could and she said they don’t toast bagels? That was odd. The only thing I can think of is you turn the toaster off at a certain time, which I get.
I would definitely come back more if the chai latté was made properly! It is a cool café for sure and I am happy to support...
Read moreI came here for coffee once, they got snippy with me because I wanted to know what the special blends of the day were, she's like" were closing soon we don't have anything but regular coffee"..fine but it was cold. Crumbs all over the floor, ok first impression sucked, I wanted to like them. Went there at 6 45 closed...called the next day was told they close at 7. Get there at 6 45 and a topless punkrock girl wearing a skirt and bra was vacuming the rug (finally) in an apparent coffee rage with the music so goddam loud I thought slayer was actually playing there. She proceeded to freak out at me for witnessing her in her zen moment, yelling at me covering her unimpressive chest...I could barely make out "were closed!" As I ran back out and down to the dunkin donuts who's dark roast is surprisingly good and hot. And clean and open, and not a circus side show of you better get your s+!+ together soon, I realized I don't need to go to some hole in the wall shop for coffee if that is overpriced if that's how they do business. Other people will actually go out of there way for customers and for thier own reputation as a brand. But baristas are supposed to be snobs right? Hope they get the message. There may...
