My wife and I's go-to for local coffee! We are, admittedly, latte snobs, and so far, Matters is the one to beat!

The shop is cozy and atmospheric, particularly on a rainy afternoon like today. All the staff are wonderful people, including the baseball-capped owner, who always has a quick joke up his sleeves. They have plenty of seating both in the front and rear of the building, and there is always parking of some fashion either at the front of the building, or a short walk from the CVS parking lot. They carry an assortment of baked goods, in-house coffee beans, and a small clothing line. Best of all, they support other local businesses, such as Baked by Susan, and have given days of the week where they allow vendors to set up shop on site.

Yuli is one of the sweetest people we've ever met. She is always kind, smiling, and upbeat, regardless of the day. Just seeing her smile makes our day!

Whenever it is that we are to leave the Croton area, saying goodbye to Matters and their amazing staff will be a very hard thing...

I had a very disappointing experience at Matters Coffee. After placing my order, I politely asked for extra cold foam. Instead of simply accommodating the request or informing me kindly of any additional charge, I was met with unprofessional behavior from the staff. I began to feel uncomfortable as employees stared and spoke about me in hushed tones. Then, one of the workers loudly called out, “Next time you want extra cold foam, let us know before we check you out,” in a tone that felt more like a scolding than customer service. On top of that the coffee was already $11.

Trying to be respectful, I approached the register and offered a dollar to cover the foam. But as I was leaving, I overheard more unnecessary commentary from the staff, asking, “Did she say anything?” and continuing to talk about me. This experience was incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Customer service should be about kindness and communication, not public shaming. I won’t...

As someone who remembers the Inkwell in Long Branch and was there for the opening of Small World Coffee in Princeton, I am so happy I found this shop. I stopped in while waiting for my mom to get off the train, just looking for some wi-fi and place out of the over 100 degree heat and was incredibly happy to find this spot. The staff was very pleasant, patient and enthusiastic. I ended up ordered a cortado with real (yes real) maple syrup. Hallelujah - proportions were perfect! Coffee was delicious and full-bodied without bitterness- worthy of pretentious coffee snobs! The place itself is warm with places to work and places to relax. I wish it were closer to home but I will be back! I might drive up here for the cortado alone. Please support this local spot not just because its local - but because it is excellent! And I want it here when I return.

Worth every. single. dollar. Life is short. Buy...

I love the positive energy walking in and being greeted by such nice baristas. I feel like croton needed a nice modern coffee shop with great energy and vibes. The music is so nice and love the lounge area. The coffee is so delish, that I look forward to coming in the next morning for another cup.Jordan makes sure that I get exactly what I want (being needy that I am lol )and she makes my son the best chocolate milk. We both love coming here=) I’m so happy to have this new place to come and relax in the morning.

It's a nice decent place to stop by for coffee and light snacks. There are seats for at least 10 people at the front and more seats are available at the back. My colleagues said their coffee and latte were very good. They also have a restroom and a 15 - minutes parking lot (I think it's a shared parking lot among the business stores). If you're looking for morning coffee/tea - this is the place!
