Denny's — Restaurant in Town of De Witt

Traveling all day and after we checked into our hotel we came over around 11pm ish. Waited a little for someone to greet us at the front which was okay but it seemed like she automatically disliked us. She pointed us where to sit which ended up being a dirtier booth, at least on the ground that was and we waited for a long time. During the wait another customer walked in and a different employee immediately brought them to their table and handed each of them a menu that we hadn't even received yet. The person who initially greeted us finally came over to ask what drinks we wanted and we specifically had to ask for a menu afterwards. Whenever she was around it seemed like she would always avoid eye contact and the atmosphere whenever she was around made it feel like we were in the wrong. Meanwhile she was cracking a few jokes with other customers. At some point I believe that employee left for the night and the employee that I mentioned earlier started to take care of us and the service was definitely a lot better after. Yes it did seem like they were understaffed so food after ordering definitely took a solid chunk of time enough so that we wish we would have gone somewhere else. Ok so staff was nice, I went in twice once the night before around 3am. I specifically asked the waitress if it would be ok to order the nachos & cheese. She said it was good so I did. I drove 19hrs was beat so I quickly went to my hotel room. Well neatless to say meat & both cheeses was good but nachos was so nasty I had to throw it out. I try again this time ordered 2 meals & take out. As my sister orders the SAME waitress attends us does not say anything. I told her about the nachos nothing was done just a " there normally good, there frozen nachos that we fry". I looked at her like seriously 😡. So this time around coffee cold, the so called country chicken was in fact NOT CHICKEN & RAW. I now explain my second complaint & waitress says " yes it's nasty that's why I never eat that myself". Like for real I stopped eating my food paid the $34 dlrs plus tip & left. My first time in Syracuse NY & this was definitely a turn off. Never again will I come here. I smiled & was nice being a minister but I definitely don't recommend. Oh & veal is NOT chicken FYI. My food should have been free & if you get orange juice don't drink it fast because refills...

First time eating at Denny's and it exceeded my expectations by far. My Uncle took my husband and I out to eat here and I ordered the breakfast which included an egg omelet, bacon, sausage and pancakes. I should have taken a picture but all I wanted to do was eat after my first bite. I expected fast food quality but received restaurant quality. The food was delicious and I was very pleased when I learned they had sugar free syrup. By the way it tasted just like regular maple syrup and over the fluffy pancakes it was delicious. My husband ordered a Beef brisket skillet plate. Actual it originally was chicken bourbon skillet but he requested the chicken be replaced with beef brisket. I did take a picture of that. We all enjoyed the food and Catherine our hostess was amazing. She was welcoming and engaging. She frequently came back to the table to see if we needed anything else. Unfortunately in this day in age that kind of customer service isn't always easy to come by. If the food is good that's great but if the customer service is good I will be an returning customer.
