Get Smashed — Restaurant in Town of De Witt

We ordered here for the first time tonight, right around 6 pm when they open. The app experience was easy and straightforward. The food was hot and fresh when we got there to pick it up. It’s a no frills operation, ghost kitchen style out of Mother’s cupboard. You go in and the guys are there making the food and setting it out on a table for pickup once it’s done. The food itself is next level, I haven’t seen anything like this in the area before. The burgers truly don’t need any toppings. I usually like pickles lettuce tomato and onion on mine with some mayo but when people say not to put anything on these burgers, it’s true. The quality of meat and the cheese speaks for itself. We got the burgers with onions on top and that was perfect. I put pickles on mine then ended up taking them off so I could enjoy the flavor on its own. The Mac and cheese is bomb, cooked perfectly and the cheese sauce is great. The panko crumbs are a nice touch. The chocolate cake shake is 10/10. $60 for 2 double burgers with cheese and onions, 2 mac and cheeses, and 2 cake shakes if you get the Fat Kid special. Not bad at all in my opinion especially given the quality of the food. A dinner out for two these days usually costs a lot more than that. 10/10 recommend hands down the reviews are the TRUTH, this place looks like a hole in the wall kind of sketchy but come to find out it's a restaurant inside a restaurant that's only open 2 days a week because it's a breakfast diner place in the morning through the week. We walked in and it's a whole restaurant to our surprise with seats and all come to find out they make the burgers right in front of you and ITS NOT CASH ONLY, ONLY the DINER IS CASH ONLY the burger place is both cash or card and from the looks of it it's a place that the owner is trying to get his own restaurant and rents the place out 2 days a week to get the business going etc until he can get his own space. Get Smashed has truly earned its name! As someone who runs a burger joint myself, I’m not easily impressed, but these folks knocked it out of the park. Normally, I’m the kind of guy who loads up on condiments, but this burger was so perfectly seasoned and balanced that it didn’t need a thing – not a single squirt of ketchup or dollop of mayo. My wife and I grabbed one burger to share on the drive, thinking it’d be enough, but man, was that a mistake. I spent the entire ride back to Utica contemplating every exit, just itching to turn around and grab two (or maybe ten) more. Each bite had me more convinced that I’d found burger nirvana. The simplicity and flavor combination are just chef’s kiss. I highly recommend Get Smashed, and I genuinely can’t wait to see what’s next for this spot.
