Umi Sushi and Hibachi — Restaurant in Town of De Witt

Stumbled upon Umi by accident. My boyfriend and I were driving by around lunch time when he noticed it was no longer a Subway. We were hungry and decided to stop in and try something different. I was honestly not sure what to make of a sushi and hibachi place in a small former subway, but I was very pleasantly surprised.

We each got a lunch bento box. Great portions and the food was really fresh. The mushroom soup was a hit. There was so many things on the menu that looked really good, we decided to come back for dinner! We got take out and we were just as happy with our dinners. I have visited this new restaurant several times over the last couple of weeks since they opened and can say that they are consistently exceptional. Very clean, organized, friendly and absolutely delicious and affordable. I can't recommend enough. I have tried the dinner Bento Box several times as well as the Hibachi dinner and a few appetizers. In more detail I can say the beef is very tender, the fried vegetables that come in the Bento Box are delicious not overcooked and not greasy like you would expect. This is a quaint little place that has about 3 tables to eat at. This is not a hibachi you can sit at and watch your food be made. I happen to overhear some people ask that one day I was waiting on my food so I figured I would mention that. Everything about their food has a good amount of presentation and effort put forth. I would suggest if you do want food from here you will need some salt or pepper as most of their food is pretty bland. Their rolls are pretty darn good. The lady who usually takes orders is very helpful and a joy to talk to. This place can get a little pricey but for what it is, I prefer it over quite a few places...
