Stayed here June 29th and was in town for a family wedding. After driving from MD and 8 hours in the car, the hotel was a welcome sight. The entrance is NOT where my GPS said it would be or where it looks to naturally be...you have to turn left at the following light (when coming from the direction of Syracuse). That was my only initial complaint!
The front desk clerk was friendly, although she looked in need of a day off, she gave us an "upgrade" and a Priority Rewards welcome snack bag. The room we got in the upgrade, we later figured out, was only given to us because none of the standard double rooms were clean at 2pm, and although the larger room was nice, it was VERY dusty! The bathroom was clean enough (the corners needed a good scrub), the beds were bed bug free, the flat screen tv and ac worked, and there were clean comfy linens on the beds. However, the electrical outlet in the bathroom did not work, so no hair dryer or coffee.
The cookies, candy, and fruit in the lobby were great snacks coming in late from the wedding! The dining area for breakfast was ample and had a large tv so we could see some morning news and weather before we hit the road. The breakfast selections were plentiful, from yogurt, danishes, pancakes, eggs, muffins, cream cheese, peanut butter, sausage, hard boiled eggs, juices and more! Thank you!
My favorite part of staying in the Holiday Inn Expresses is the lack of a bedspread! They are just filled with germs and dirt and never washed, and I always have to remove them and throw them in the closet...but not at HIE. They know what we want in a clean bed. There is a simple accent blanket at the base of the bed that can easily be removed and washed on a regular basis. The double sheeting with the douvet in between on every bed makes the blanket unnecessary anyway. I also love the FOUR labeled pillows so you can decide on firm or soft.
I would recommend this hotel to everyone! I'm sure I'll be staying there again when I visit the...
Read moreThis property was being renovated with its accompanying sounds beginning at 7:30 AM. The prior evening a fire alarm miscue lasted 6-7 minutes.||My distress at the noises was completely undone by the humans providing our care. I was warmly greeted by a young lady providing the breakfast. She was disarmingly cheerful and engaging for 8 AM on a cold, snowy morning.||I then was enthusiastically greeted by a young man passing through the dining area who inquired about my stay and day, and responded with smiling energy to my request for salt packets. ||After my wife and I dined in our room it was time to face the 14 degree windy morning with its accompanying task of brushing off the 6-8”of fresh snow which had fallen during night. I looked at this job with trepidation as my boots, coat, and gloves had been left in the car!||As I stepped into the bracing morning I spied my car having been completely brushed off and the windshield scrapped.||I then checked out with the cordial, bright eyed assistance of the front deck person. She also assisted me in meeting the manager.||I have been an elite member as a traveling business person for many years so the clean accommodations, magically comfortable bed and perfect duvet were appreciated but somewhat expected. ||The personal contact with staff and the wonderful gesture of the car lifted my day and inspired me to seek out James, the manager and salt packet man to compliment him and his staff for making my day a better one.||It is the human touch that separates one property from another in that competitive business. This team is special and I encourage you to stay with them if you have the opportunity.||My...
Read moreThis is by far the best hotel we have ever stayed at. Sure the rooms need updating but the plan is in place to start and is clearly marked on their web site. The hotel is very clean as are the rooms again need updating but they are clean!! The staff !! Every member of the staff was friendly, kind and willing to help. We had to make reservations for the same day due to weather and a surgery. I asked a multitude of questions and all were responded to without attitude. When we arrived and I checked in Mike (best ever) knew we were coming and what was happening because the Staff actually communicated with each other - no ticket punching “I’m out” with this staff. And it appeared as the staff all actually got along and treated each other with respect. These are the important things to me personally, as a past property a manger I know the difficulties of working with a variety of different people who all have expectations some reasonable some not but this staff was excellent so when you want to post silly reviews about lighting and not being able to read maybe you should think of what you did have which was a staff that treats guests as if they are the only ones there. The breakfast was also AWESOME - yes they had the turkey sausage with the regular sausage but it did have a divider in it. The egg white omelette were delicious ! Location is odd but convenient to everything you need to do in Syracuse, N. Syracuse, Dewitt and Fayetteville. The hotel quiet no noises from traffic, planes or trains. Would stay there...
