On our first visit, when we drove up at 1:00 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon to find the large parking lot almost full, I thought this must be a really good restaurant. Indeed, Vito's was not hosting a wedding reception, but was filled with happy regulars enjoying lunch. I ordered manicotti, and for a starter their minestrone soup. For some years, my favorite minestrone soup has been that served at Joey's at Carrier Circle. However, filled with properly cooked vegetables and a tasty broth this is just as good. The sausage that accompanied my manicotti was meaty and mild in flavor. It was delicious when eaten with the extra marinara sauce I requested. The manicotti was good, but I probably won't order it again. My wife hit the jackpot by ordering pasta pie. Instead of a firm cheese holding together the angel hair pasta, this version uses Alfredo sauce, giving it a looser texture and delicious flavor. The slice had a mushroom crust covered with marinara sauce. It was outstanding and she kindly shared it with me. For dessert, we shared spumoni ice cream with chocolate, cherry, and pistachio flavors and tasty whipped cream. A truly excellent meal. UPDATE-1: On our second visit, I ordered the shrimp riggies. The large shrimp were perfectly cooked and went well with the vodka sauce, rigatoni, and cherry peppers. The sliced peppers did require some trimming, because the kitchen had not removed the stems. My wife ordered a delicious combination of Char-Grilled chicken with peppers and mushrooms. It included a side of angel hair pasta with marinara sauce. For dessert, we shared the spumoni tartufo. A truly delicious way to end a great meal. UPDATE-2: On our 5th visit, the kitchen was not up to their normal level of excellence. My wife ordered the char-grilled chicken with peppers and mushrooms and a side of pasta. The dish arrived at room temperature. I ordered chicken francaise which was hot, but lacked flavor and seasoning. With lemon wedges kindly provided by our server, I squeezed juice over and sprinkled salt onto the dish and it turned out pretty well. One thing we learned on this trip was that the delicious sauce that comes with a side of meatballs is tomato sauce. We preferred it to the chunky marinara that was on our sides of pasta and will request it in the future. UPDATE-3: Tried sacchetti pasta in a vodka sauce with a side of sausage for the first time. It was excellent. UPDATE-4: Tried out a new dish from the lunch menu, farfalle boscaiola, and it was outstanding. UPDATE-5: Enjoyed the...
Read moreWe were traveling from Rochester for the weekend and made dinner reservations here to celebrate my mom's birthday. It was our first visit.
It was easy to find, about 10 minutes from our hotel, and there was plenty of parking.
The menu is huge, and there were also several specials. Definitely something for everyone, including my sister who has a tomato allergy. You can choose either "a la carte", which still comes with salad and pasta, or "dinner", which comes with soup (chicken or minestrone, and the chicken was delicious), an antipasto salad (served on greens, with or without tuna, and had way too much dressing for my taste but was otherwise good), pasta, coffee and dessert. The "dinner" is $6 more. For dessert you could choose from items such as cannolis, eclairs and ice cream. All three were delicious. The coffee was not. :)
Everyone enjoyed their meals- the chicken French that I shared with my sister was so-so but the veal chop that we also shared was incredible and I highly recommend if you eat veal. Both portions were huge! We had many boxes to take back.
As good as everything was, the thing that really put it over the top and made the experience, was our server Heidi. Everyone that worked there was nice, but Heidi was a rare treat. She was personable, helpful, on top of everything, funny and just an incredible server. When you go to Vito's, ask for her, you won't regret it!! Thank you, Heidi, for a WONDERFUL evening and for making my mom's 77th a great one!! We are looking forward to our...
Read moreI recently had a truly disappointing experience at Vito’s, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts in this 1-star review. My family of 5 had made a reservation for 7:30, expecting a smooth and enjoyable dining experience. However, our evening turned into a series of frustrating events.
Firstly, despite having a reservation, we were left standing and waiting at the entrance for an astonishing 40 minutes. This long wait time was not only inconvenient but also unacceptable. After what felt like an eternity, we were shown to our table. But the nightmare didn't end there. It took an excruciatingly long time, nearly an hour, for our food to be served. Such an excessive delay is simply unacceptable, especially considering we had children with us who were growing more restless and hungry by the minute. The food was overpriced and wasn’t the greatest. To add insult to injury, when the bill arrived, I noticed that our mediocre waitress had generously helped herself to a 20% tip. This unexpected and unwarranted addition ended up being a significant amount of money, considering the already overpriced bill.
Overall, my experience at Vito’s was nothing short of a disaster. From the excessive waiting time, the agonizing delay in serving the food to the waitress dishonestly adding a substantial tip, it was an evening filled with disappointment. I strongly urge others to avoid this establishment, as they clearly lack both competence and integrity when it comes to providing a satisfactory...
