Lovely ambiance. Very kind and attentive server. Light house music but did not overwhelm conversations. Main dining room fit around 40 at tables and 6 at chef’s bar overlooking kitchen. Bar was in separate room with some couches and a few tables. Gift shop was at the front. Signage was a little confusing. Look for signs for “The Farmhouse Project”. Still, sparkling, and house water was offered after I sat down. I was pleased with the Saratoga sparkling water. Their glassware was on point. I ordered their signature cocktail and it was lovely. Smelled absolutely wonderful and tasted the same. A classy small oil lantern and fresh bouquet in a small bud vase adorned the granite top table I sat at. I ordered the rigatoni with meat and mushroom sauce. It was fantastic. Not too big either, which was nice. The general vibe of this menu is half small plates and half large plates. I then had the chicken which was also fantastic. The skin was perfectly crisped and the sauce and Asian greens were amazing additions. I finished off with an amaro at the recommendation of my server and a passion fruit pavlova. The pavlova was AMAZING and the amaro was a great accompaniment.

So much enjoyed our outing. Been coming to Callicoon for 20 years live in Philly and have farmhouse bordering North Branch and Jeff, pass by The Farmhouse Project in Hortonville regularly. Love eating at a place where people deeply care about the food that is creative, casual in all the right places down to earth not too pretentious and doesn't take over the individual personality of Callicoon but instead supports it gently lives in harmony with Peppinos and The Main Street Thrift Shop and the again growing vacation milieu. What I love about being here is that we can step away and cook for ourselves in an 1860s farmhouse by the pond read and work remote without showering but then if we want to feel special celebratory and treat ourselves to fun dining we can come 15 minutes to a place like Black Walnut.

If I could give 100 stars for atmosphere I would. The design detail … tapestry wall paper, lighting, dried willow arrangements, the crafted glassware on your table …felt like observing an art & design masterclass. Romantic and opulent European vibes. Food was fantastic and incredibly flavorful - what a chef! Every staff member there was so attentive and friendly. A top fine dining experience - still blown away by all the thoughtfulness and detail that Black Walnut showcases. Bravo!

I have to say I've never been to such an Amazing restaurant, from the moment I walked in the Aviance was Breathtakingly. There were these beautiful beautiful couches where you could get a drink at the bar go sit and have amazing moments. The statues along the wall were eye-catching that's what drew me in from walking down in front of the restaurant. I was greeted a Wonder person named Sarah. With a genuine smile and her presents she escorted me to the restaurant in another room. When I walked into the restaurant part the room had Amazing pictures all around so Beautiful for the eye to see. The tables had real candles and flowers. At this moment my Server came her name was Jenny the most Knowledgeable person I've ever meet. She knew every ingredient Of everything on the menu. She was caring to my needs and her suggestions we're right on point, From the Wine to the Appetizes to the Meal. When it came to dessert I let her pick two for me and for the next 5 days straight I ate the same delicious desserts. Not only was Jenny caring, smart, funny but most of all Professional. The nights She wasn't there I was served by Carrie With the same qualities I was so Impressed by her. How could it get any better than this but it did. I had the pleasure of meeting the Executive Chef and and Co-owner Camille. She took time to have a beautiful conversation with me about her restaurant And every night she come to my table to greet me when I came in. I'm so blessed to have found such an amazing establishment. On my last day it was my birthday and I was by myself And some how Jenny must have remembered me saying it was my birthday on the first night I went there. I was so touched. That everyone in the restaurant including Camille who carried the two cakes 🎂 🎂 to me with candles singing Happy Birthday to me. It really touched my Heart. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone I would travel the 1 1/2 hours to get there when I'm not on vacation in the area. I'm going back in July And I'm planning on eating there every night God bless this Wonderful Place for being so kind to...

Absolutely gorgeous space, and the attention to detail was incredible. From the metallic thread on the embroidered napkins to the tiny gold swords for spearing the olives, it was such a rich and immersive experience. The service was prompt and friendly and disarming for such a sophisticated atmosphere and menu, and the food was all perfection. There aren't many raw oyster options in Sullivan County (if any?) and Black Walnut's, lightly garnished, were some of the best we've had anywhere. We demolished 2 dozen.

Made for a very special birthday celebration. Everyone in the group was impatient to get back ASAP. Callicoon has always been a great weekend getaway, and this restaurant should be the centerpiece of any such trip. It's a worthy destination unto itself for a visit from NYC and I hope it receives all the success it deserves for...
