If you ever find yourself in Callicoon, NY and craving Italian comfort food, Peppino’s on Lower Main Street is an absolute must-stop. Don’t let the small-town vibes fool you—this place serves up serious flavor. First off, their pizza? Easily one of the best I’ve had upstate. Perfectly crisp crust, flavorful sauce, and just the right cheese-to-topping ratio. It’s the kind of slice that reminds you why classic never goes out of style. Now let’s talk about the chicken parm—a golden, cheesy masterpiece. Tender chicken, rich marinara, and bubbling mozzarella all layered to perfection. Every bite felt like a warm hug from Nonna herself. Their chicken alfredo also hit all the right notes—creamy, savory, and generously portioned. The pasta was cooked just right and that sauce? Pure comfort. On top of the food, the customer service was top-notch. Friendly staff, quick service, and an atmosphere that made us feel right at home. If you're exploring the Catskills or just passing through Sullivan County, don’t sleep on this gem. Peppino’s is proof that you don’t have to be in NYC to get great Italian food. #UpstateEats #PizzaLovers #ChickenParmGoals #CallicoonEats #FoodieFinds #ItalianFoodHeaven #FoodieInTheBigApple2025 #PeppinosCallicoon #HiddenGemsNY

I came here for the pizza bc I only love NY style pizza and I was not disappointed. Even if it was slightly salty, I still enjoyed the generous w mozzarella cheese, the thin thin crust, and the fluffy and light but chewy dough. The crust was probably the best crust I had in ages. Almost like a hybrid filó dough thin top layer and chewy core without much density. The waitress was very sweet, gave our dog fresh water in a clean washed bowl, let our dog sit with us on the outside table which had an umbrella for sun. The salad was huge and could be shared with 2-3 people. Calamari was done just right … light and crispy with lots of homemade marinara sauce. The surrounding area is beautiful in the Catskills with lakes and farms. The town is nice and friendly. The bathroom was nicely done, clean, and spacious.

Such a beautiful place! We made phone reservations about a half hour before, and we got seated right away! I ordered a blackberry lavender lemonade off the special drinks menu and it was delicious. They gave us bread immediately, and took our orders, me and my fiancé ordered penne alla vodka with grilled chicken and a Caesar salad. the dressing tasted homemade and was incredibly tasty, and the penne, oh the penne!!! the vodka sauce was so good we asked if they sold it by jar! they gave us such large plates, and i took home a whole second meal, my fiancé managed to eat most of his lol. All in All, i didn’t have a single bad experience or even mediocre bite in this place. Absolute perfection.

Took my family there for my husbands birthday, only to go home and be by my husband's side for the next 11 hours with him keeled over the toilet puking. When you walk into the place, it's a glorified pizzeria, the server was great. The food on the other hand was not. I would definitely start interviewing new chefs and new recipes. We ordered bruschetta, the bruschetta had a thick slice of mozzarella (the packaged kind you buy at the supermarket that comes in a block)over the tomatoes, my daughter lost her tooth cap when she bit into it. The garlic bread with cheese had no garlic taste at all, it was just a loaf of bread that was cut in half and loaded with cheese. Kind of like the garlic bread you get at Pizza Hut but not as tasty. We ordered chicken francese, not sure how anyone at an Italian place can f that up, but that was tastless too. My parents dishes came with ziti and the other with spaghetti, the pasta was not cooked. Not even al dente. I myself ordered a sprite and thought I was being poisoned. I don't know what kind of chemical it tasted like but it wasn't soda of any sort. By the time the food came out, no one from our party of 8 really ate anything. We all asked for boxes to go. When we got home, I put all the food out for the wild animals to eat. After tonight not sure if those animals will be coming back either. We came to this place because we read the 4 star reviews. I guess the people who wrote those reviews were either drunk or paid off. Our first choice was Creek House two doors down but they weren't opening till 4pm and we wanted something earlier. Next time we will wait for them to open. They NEVER disappoint. They don't have a cook they have a chef. FYI this is the first review I've ever written in my life. I couldn't let what happened to my husband happen to...

I don't think I've ever been as bad of an experience as I did here. The waitress had less than no personality and clearly didn't want to be there. We started with mozzarella sticks and a riceball. We asked for a side of vodka sauce and were told vodka sauce only comes with certain dishes... What?? Anyway both had no flavor and tasted like they came out of a box from the freezer. The soup of the day was "Lobster Bisque". I've never met a Lobster Bisque I didn't enjoy. But this soup was absolutely disgraceful. It had HUGE chunks of "imitation lobster meat" that had the consistency of geletin. The broth tasted like it came from a can. My girlfriend almost vomited over it. When I told the waitress to take it back she felt the need to ask what we didn't like about it. After I described how awful it was she asked my girlfriend her opinion. JUST TAKE IT AWAY! We proceeded to just get a slice of pizza and fried calamari. Big mistake. We should have just left. The pizza wasn't horrific but the sauce tasted bizarre and the cheese had zero flavor. The breading on the calamari resembled sand and again, tasted like freezer food. I seriously can't believe this place is in business and that it has a single good review. Save your money and order dominoes. Eat ANYWHERE ELSE than Peppinos. The "Chef" needs to have his brain examined. Worst restaurant I've...

Honestly it hurts me to leave this review. We have been to this place many times. We drive for an hour to get here and it has always been worth it. Until today. We came for our anniversary. We brought our children with us. Everything was good except the cheesesteaks which were subpar to be generous. Each of our children ordered one. Two of our boys ate them despite them not being good. The third barely touched his. The cheesesteaks were not good. They were terrible. We ask them to take one of the cheesesteaks off the bill. They did not. I was surprised, after I asked, but they didn't take anything off the bill. We have been very satisfied in the past. This time we were disappointed to say the least. For them to serve cheesesteaks on soggy buns with meat that tasted Frozen, and then to refuse to take even one off the bill, one that had merely a bite or two taken out of it, which was then left on the table, not taken home in a to go box.

Not to mention the fact that we waited for quite a while for them to decide whether or not they would take one cheesesteak off the bill, while they ultimately decided not to. I have worked in food service before. I was a waitress for years. It shocked me that they did nothing to alleviate our dissatisfaction. It takes a lot for me to complain in the first place.

We will...
