Today 6/3/19 I stopped in with other people to have lunch. As soon as we're walked in a line started to form. The man behind the counter asked are u all ordering together? We thought he meant our order was all together so we all stated no its separate. Immediately I could tell he was angry so I asked would you like to make all of our subs together and just cash us out separately? He spoke in a very angry tone and said "I just asked you that!!" Once I paid and the man walked away i grabbed a cup because i ordered a meal. He comes over quickly and loudly says "I just told you the fountain doesn't work, your need to get a bottle!" I told him I didnt hear him. He said nothing and walked away. Around 2pm another employee walks in and immediately the man behind the counter was irate!! Screaming at the poor man in front of multiple customers who then had to wait while he screamed about how he was only to cover one person's shift and not be covering his! The other employee stated he was early in a quiet and professional tone. The irate employee continued to yell that he had already confirmed with another employee that he was supposed to be there at 1pm. The quiet man started walking to the back around the counter kind of looking at the irate man very shocked! The man yelling stated he was not playing with him and to come on!! The quiet man walked to the back and came back out with an envelope and walked out. The man behind the counter then left the line of customers to get on the phone directly through the doorway behind the cash register. Once he was done he came back to the line and completed orders. Another man walked in and he told the man that the other employee just got there walked in and walked out and he didnt know why. He didnt know what was going on. Due to that statement I decided to write this to help the quiet employee incase the irate employee doesn't tell the whole truth. Regardless if he was late or not he handled himself in a professional manner unlike the other staff member who obviously doesn't know a thing about customer service, how to treat people or how to handle a stressful situations. The entire issue should have been talked about after the line was taken care of. I hope if the irate employee continues to work for them they give him more help because he cant handle a line by himself and makes customers feel very rushed and...
Read moreI came here on December 23, 2015, with my boyfriend, his brother, his brother's girlfriend, and one of his brother's friends. We were traveling from Pennsylvania through Watkins Glen, eventually to reach another destination in New York State. I am from Kokomo, Indiana. I have dealt with horrible service from establishments before - but none so horrible as this experience. The friend who was traveling with us and I had to use the restroom extremely bad. We walked into the store, expecting to pay for a drink and snack after we used the bathroom. We were informed that the restroom was only for paying customers, and asked to leave. We explained to the woman behind the counter that we would buy something, but she cut us off before we could explain to her that we had been traveling for some time, and we walked out. My boyfriend's brother walked inside to buy a cookie so he could then use a restroom, and she literally chased him out of the store with a phone in her hand, threatening to call the police. I'm assuming she then called the local police department, but we didn't stay long enough to find out. It was just extremely frustrating that she refused us the restroom and then didn't want our money. I hope things have changed since then. As someone who has worked in food service and other customer service and retail enviroments, it was not only degrading, but made my experience in this town extremely...
Read moreWe were new and hiked near this town. We decided to dine in, found this subway nearby, checked the hours (open till 9 pm) and walked in around 7:45 pm, took a table and ordered 3 footling veg sandwiches and a bag of chips. Only 2 breads were available but we chose among what’s available. No issues so far.
At the time of billing (around 8 pm), the lady says we have to take and leave. Why? She says lobby closes at 8 pm. But store hours says 9 pm, there is no notice of 8 pm closure. She says they don’t have to put a notice. If she had notified us at the time of ordering, we could have decided. We may not have bought there. She suggests we go to some park nearby and eat. I told her this is NOT fair that she doesn’t notify us at the time of ordering and now throw us out. Could she make an exception and we will make it quick?. She refused. When I asked to consider given we never got notice, she abruptly left inside. We didn’t even give us bags. My wife called angain requesting bags. She came in, gave 2 bags quickly and went back inside.
I hope subway can clarify if such a policy of forcing customers to disallow dine-in even exists and is fair in this context (we walked before 8 pm, store hours is till 9 pm and no notice of dine-in closure, no verbal update even. I also hope this has nothing to do with customer demography. I am just a traveler in this part of...
