I was really impressed by the place when I first walked in. It was a really nice bar that I was looking forward to having a few drinks there and possibly a meal. This was all quickly ruined by the owners' behavior and attitude towards myself and the guest during my time there. I was part of one of the bands on the bill for the music event they held yesterday. Before I went on, I attempted to get a water bottle from my car to just have on stage with me for the performance. As soon as I left the building, I was followed to my car and asked what I was doing. I asked the owners if it was ok to have my water on stage just for the performance and assured them I would return it to my car once I finished, as I was really looking forward to having some drinks and possibly something to eat from their bar and kitchen after I finished the set. They would not let me and I returned my bottle to the car. While going inside the owners tried to sell me a $3 bottle of water. I witnessed similar situations happen to the other bands after my performance as well.
As a performer, you never expect free drinks or food from any establishment. It is also easy to understand a business' wishes to prohibit outside food or drinks. But the fact you cannot provide your performers free tap water is absurd. It is a very common practice in many bars and venues and costs you next to nothing.
Additionally and more importantly, the behavior displayed by the owners was extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. It’s not okay to be watching over your customers like children waiting for them to do something wrong. It’s even more uncalled for to follow your customers out to their cars to make sure they aren’t trying to “undermine your business”. Yes, you were nice enough to give the space and donate to the artists, but that does not give you the right to treat the artists your other patrons the way they did.
It is because of this behavior, I was completely turned off from the establishment and the main reason why I didn't buy anything besides a beer before I performed. It’s once again a real shame that this toxic atmosphere is allowed to exist in this restaurant. It really does look like a nice and inviting place to grab a few drinks and a good bite to eat. But if this is the way the owners will continue to treat their guests, then you’re better off going...
Read moreStopped in for a quick lowkey anniversary dinner to try some place new. Staff was pleasant. Service was mediocre. We were one of 2 tables and it took over 10 minutes to get 2 Pepsi after ordering while the waitress conversed with her friend and young child in the front. We had to ask for water. The bread was over baked and clearly store bought. The homemade broccoli soup special was decent, but only had a couple actual whole chunks of broccoli. The cornbread served with it was grainy and dry. My husband ordered the chicken parmesan sliders. He bit into the first one and asked me to try it. It tasted like fish. Upon investigation we realized it was shrimp. The cooks gave him 1 of each (shrimp, meatball and chicken) after specifying only chicken. (Of course the first bite was shrimp). the waitress double checked the order and confirmed it was put in as chicken. We didn’t want to send it back and wait for a new meal, but the unexpected bite of seafood made him lose his appetite completely. I ordered the penne ala vodka with crispy chicken. It was pretty good. Large portion. Overall not sure if we’ll be back. Very pricey for the quality. If 1/2 tables orders cannot be done correctly on a wednesday I can only imagine on a busier night. Coming from someone in restaurant/food management it’s really not that hard to double check especially regarding seafood, but I would never put up a fuss in a place of business because that’s the worst. I just hope this place can work to improve from these types of things. Now just imagine if we had a seafood ALLERGY. Y’all...
Read moreSo - I rarely leave bad reviews; any establishment can have a bad night and they are simply not as much fun to write. But friends, I went to a show here on Saturday night and I have not seen such poor service since the Central Ave Outback in 2012. There were several bands playing and a decent crowd of people, so the space itself was a bit stuffy (as live music events tend to get), and this place was charging for tap water - 3.75, for tap water. The food service was reluctant, the bathrooms unkept, and the food itself was lackluster for what previous reviews had led me to believe. The calamari? Soggy. The premium sliders? Overcooked - although the brioche bun was delicious with the sauce they put on there. As a New Yorker, I can forgive an overcooked slider, but soggy calamari? Is nothing sacred? I have also since come to learn that the bands themselves were extended no traditional hospitality (ie drink tickets, free soft drinks for the band, discount of certain food items) that venues typically grant to acts who bring in spending crowds. While there should be no expectations or assumptions of such things, this place definitely made a pretty penny off that show and could have at least not charged people for fudging water. I was excited to come here, had looked it up when my friend told me his band would be doing a showcase here. But the vibes, as the kids would say, were...
