We come here 2x/week all summer for outdoor music & authentic dock vibes - the real Montauk gathers here after they hop off their fishing boats! Interior is just how we love it, step back in time to an era where the guys washed their catch out back and then earned a barstool to toast a great few days on the high seas. It's a special atmosphere and quite unique on the East End. Check the hand-written charts near the front door for the biggest fish catches of the week! Don't miss Monday evenings - 6pm start through to sunset with the amazing Lynn Blue Band. Lynn plays on the patio and you will want your camera out for the best "red sky" pictures of your summer! They play great covers of your most favorite rock tunes with the band's own twist - will have you wishing sunset was at 11pm! Ring toss and deck games are a fun addition, reminds me of great Fla Keys vacations. When it's time to order, here's your best plan: Seared tuna app, maki combo roll, grilled whole fish of the day, chowder all night, and my guys swear by the burgers& macaroni, and specialty sushi rolls, especially the Montauk and Westlake rolls. It can get crowded on weekends, but minimal wait on the back bar adds to the fun summer vibe. Saturday nights are awesome on the covered patio with live music and a packed house enjoying another stellar MTK weekend. Even when the summer tourists clock in, it ALWAYS feels like home. Speaking of bar - local drafts, Super fresh Lime 'Ritas, and comped sodas if you're the DD. Typical Hamptons pricing tho, which keeps us saying OUCH! Please, lower the drink prices! ! If I had one wish, it would be for happy hour drink prices, especially during the Lynn sets because I'm always bringing friends and treating to a round or two. At the existing Hamptons prices, that makes me dial back the number of Mondays we go. Hey guys, if $6 margaritas/drafts for the 6pm set, $7 for the 7pm set, $8 for the sunset set ... I'm in with all my friends ... and if a $15 plate of maki rolls could roll by from 5-6:30pm, heaven! Can't beat the location. Nice, really lovely hard-working servers, many from Ireland, which adds to the charm. Chef will come out to check on big tables, which says alot. Please improve the small plates and happy hour value and it's FIVE STARS PLUS ... you'll have to...
Read moreFirst of all, live music scene has always been good here. However, we have never encountered such terrible service experience at any restaurant across the globe that treating paying customers this way. We were told to either sit at the bar and order dinner or wait for 1 hour. So, we decided to choose the bar option. We ordered 5 dishes and drinks. The food took almost 40 mins to come to the bar. We didn’t say anything thinking it’s Labour Day weekend and keep a smiley faces until the end. Unfortunately, we have just finished our second dish and ordered 3rd drink, the big fat guy came at us and asked us to get up to finish our drinks because his friends are behind the bar ( he’s asked us TWICE not once) emphasising that his good paying customers are standing behind us. Then WHO ARE WE ??!! Meanwhile, we have just got our 3rd drinks served on the counter. The second time , this person introduced himself as George , the executive chef and asked if we knew his acquaintances. And we said “NO” and “ STOP HARASSING US”! We were in shock as he’s not only unappreciated our business, but also very rude as he kept coming twice to ask us to take our drinks and stand up to drinks so his friends can sit down at the bar counter. This restaurant has a large capacity both indoor and outdoor. We still cannot phantom what George was trying to tell to the bar scene here. There were lots of individuals who were only there for a beer , he didn’t approach them but he chose the couple who are paying more than $200+ for their dinner and have just ordered their 3rd drink to stand up so his friends could sit down and order food !!??? This is absolutely not a recommended place for dinner, especially if you were advised to sit at the bar counter. Personally speaking, your money is definitely appreciated somewhere else without being...
Read moreWestlake is even better than its interesting menu might let on. Every dish was a delight. I don't know what they put in the broth their mussels are steamed in, but I could have easily drank it down like water - it was EXCELLENT. The grilled shishedo peppers were a standout appetizer, and the sushi was so fresh that if you threw it back in the water it might have swam away. The linguine with clam sauce was just right, and even would have satisfied my Italian dad, and the steamers (a family favorite) were super-fresh, and - bonus points - very well cleaned. Major kudos to the kitchen staff here: there was not a single speck of sand in a HUGE serving, which is seldom the case in even the fanciest of restaurants. I wish I could remember more of what I sampled, because the four of us shared everything, and not one flavor missed the mark; each dish I tried was better than the last. The atmosphere and staff were very welcoming, and the surroundings are quite comfortable, as well as very clean and well-kept. Despite our arriving a bit close to the end of service on an end-of-season Saturday, we were treated with care and attention. Not once were we made to feel rushed or hurried. Though I'm sure the staff wanted to get home, we were treated in a friendly, relaxed, and attentive manner. My family has eaten in almost every restaurant that has opened up shop in Montauk for about 40 years now, and many greats amd not-so-greats have come and gone, but after our first meal there, Westlake is now at the top of our list. We left satisfied, happy with our experience, and determined to come back soon...
