We were staying in a nearby hotel, saw the reviews here and decided to try this place out. It started out well, the employees were very nice and took a party of ten 35 minutes before closing so we were very grateful. It definitely has more of a bar feel than a "cozy" home which is what the name led us to believe it would feel like but we didn't mind that. Once we sat down we noticed there are quite a few gnats and flies flying around inside, so much so that we had to ask for paper napkins to cover our drinks. Once the food came out we were happy, everything was very good...that is until I lifted the left side of my potpie crust and saw a mosquito was baked right into it!!!!! Yes a MOSQUITO! I quickly let the waitress Debbie know and without even looking she denied there was a mosquito and said it's just a "seasoning she (the cook) uses". I let her know that I was positive it was a mosquito as I could see legs and wings and there was nothing else in the pie that looked remotely close to it which there would be if it truly was seasoning. She hurried over and spooned out the mosquito to "get a better look", (really probably to do away with the evidence) leaving the remainder of the potpie in front of me. After confirming it was in fact a mosquito, she let me know she took it off the bill and asked me 4 times if I wanted anything else pressuring me and reassuring me that the cook is ready to make me anything at all that I wanted off the menu. After confirming that the mosquito only got into that one batch I finally gave in and asked her to bring me a potpie to go. They did not make it to go then had to take the dish back and use a spatula to put it in a to-go container. Once we got the bill I immediately noticed that the potpie was still on the bill. When I brought it to Debbie's attention, she said it was because I ordered a new one! I told her that after baking a mosquito into my potpie, causing me not to be able to enjoy eating dinner with my friends, telling me she was taking it off the bill and pressuring me to order something else that it shouldn't be on the bill. All she did was apologize but did not take it off. Then went on to explain that they always leave the door open to contribute to the cozy feeling so they always have bugs flying around, as if that's supposed to make it okay! All you have to do is keep the door closed but you choose to keep it opened knowing that means bugs will be everywhere?! JUST GROSS. I really hate to write bad reviews but this is poor customer service and unsanitary so I had to say something. I don't care how good your food is or how many awards you say you've won, there is absolutely NO EXCUSE for insects in people's food and not comping the bill when you said you would. I would've never ordered anything else if she hadn't insisted and flat out told me she was going to comp the bill. This was NO misunderstanding, just a flat out lie to keep the full bill/tip amount. I definitely won't be coming back and will warn all of my friends who live in the area and the ones who frequently visit against...
Read moreI really loved the food in this establishment, ive been there a couple times. But honestly I'm really upset with what transpired today.
I took my friend there for her first time because I was eager to show her this adorable little restaurant. We get there and everything is great, a male waiter took our order and he was very polite and respectful, was timely and made sure to check on us multiple times.
This is going to sound like a strange fact, but it's important, so just know that they keep ketchup in those red squeeze bottles ready to go on pretty much every table.
When he brought us our food, he brought us ketchup as well, but I have an allergy to most ketchups as they usually include high fructose corn syrup. At most restaurants instead of making a scene and explaining that I have an allergy, I usually ask for a different dipping sauce. Mine of choice happens to be honey mustard.
So, I casually asked if I could have some honey mustard on the side, thought no big deal of it. The waiter said "of course" and came back shortly with a side dish of it. He also brought back a woman who seemed to be the owner, who loudly was yelling about how "if I have to pay for it, then they have to pay for it". My friend and I didn't really think anything of it because she never directly said "honey mustard" but she was surely alluding to being upset about a customer asking for extra sauce
My friend and I noted this loud conversation and I remember both of us being annoyed because of how rude it was to be yelling at an employee about anything in front of numerous tables of customers..
My friend finished her meal & I didn't finish mine so the waiter boxed up the rest of mine. The owner came up to my friend and gave her a plastic container for the honey mustard that I didn't finish and said "do you want a container so you can take the honey mustard home?"
My friend said "it's fine" and whoever the woman was stated "well you paid for it anyway". The amount of unprofessionalism was unacceptable. Some places can charge extra for extra sauce and that's fine. But the fact that she had the audacity to have an attitude to her customers and be nasty to part of her waitstaff in front of customers was just uncalled for.
If it weren't for the unprofessionalism of the owner/manager, we would've given this 5 stars for the food and our...
Read moreIf you want to be nickeled and dimed this is the place to go. Should have know better when all the other restaurants has customers but this one was empty. The bartender was the only good thing about this place. We ordered a burger with a no gluten bun and a gyro.
The burger bun was so hard we couldn’t even break it. The gyro was ok but extremely bland. Bar tender said she would take the burger off the bill ok then came back and said the owner wants to do %50 off burger instead no big deal we were just going to have them. Take the bun up charge off. We get the bill and noticed the $16 burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles was $24. Then %50 off to make it $12. The math didn’t add up. $16 burger $3 up charge for bun, $2 up charge for pickles (really adding an egg was less ). Gives you $21 I asked what the other $3 was for. She said $1each lettuce, Tom, onion. I showed her it’s included on the burger per the menu. Nope they charge for everything even though the menu clearly says it’s on it. Then $2 coke refills on a small glass must be hurting that bad to charge that.
It’s only a few dollars but don’t wrongly charge people. Wonder how many more people have...
