Had dinner with friends on a lazy Monday evening, our typical Mexican spot being closed we opted to try this new place out.
Starting with the good. The food was excellent. Hands down, no denying that. Starting with the chips and salsa. Very fresh salsa, strong but not overpowering. Burrito Cochino was huge, and stuffed with delicious. Chicken Quesadilla was also massive and outstanding. Chori Pollo, one of my favorite dishes ever, was great.
Also, the place looks great. Very nice decor, with lots of little touches that really fit well. It's a big room, at times it can get very loud.
The not so good - the service. I feel a little bad, they've only been open a week or two, but even with that, service was slow. The restaurant was packed, but there seemed to be ample staff. Our server seemed quite new, and actually requested we point at menu items instead of saying them. And still, our order of cheese dip somehow turned into queso fresco? It was good, just not what we wanted.
Overall it took 90 minutes door to door, twice what our usual joint takes. A few times random dudes checked in on our table, I think they worked there? But it was a good time.
Will I go again? Sure, if I'm in the area, and my regular joint is closed. Once they get their feet under them, this place could be a powerhouse in Mexican dining. And I...
Read moreAbout three weeks after their opening, we brought a friend with us to this restaurant for dinner on a Sunday night. We were seated immediately in a booth in the bar area. We chose this room because we felt it was cozier and quieter than the main dining room. We received complimentary chips and salsa and ordered drinks and a small dish of delicious, fresh guacamole. Since it was our first visit, it took some time to read the menu, and the server was very helpful in answering our questions about the food. We chose dishes from the dinner combo section and found the amount of food provided generous for about $16 per person (in 2024). I particularly enjoyed the chicken enchilada. The shredded, well-seasoned chicken was wrapped tightly in a corn tortilla and covered with red sauce. I also enjoyed the refried beans and chili relleno. The latter was hotter spice wise than most versions I've had of this dish. They must source hotter poblano peppers than one can get in a supermarket. The beef taco, however, was pretty much forgettable. It contained ground beef and the half of the taco shell that rested on the plate fell apart due to moisture from the sauce and beans. Finally, two of us had the fried ice cream for dessert. It was a nice way to end the meal. The service was...
Read moreThis was my second visit to this place. Both times with the same waitress. Her name is Carissa. She is a pleasant woman. Quiet and reserved as most teachers are. Very professional! Another server who brought food was Ray. He is a hard worker for sure. Overall, 5 star waiting staff!
As for the restauraunt. Very clean in the dining area! If their kitchen is anything like the dining area I would recommend this place for sure.
Ordered ceviche which is on the mild to moderate hot level. The fiesta salad is good but added the ceviche to offset the spice level of the ceviche. The fiesta salad comes with a small portion of salad sauce, but just enough to give it the flavor it needs. A healthy salad for sure! And decently portioned. For the main dish it was street tacos! Street tacos with chicken were very good!
Chips weren't the freshest and wasn't a huge fan of the salsa but it was decent! The Spanish rice was cooked well, but the beans were a little thin so a healthy option.
A little partial with the rice and beans though. As I am used to homemade from a different region. Wish they had bunuelos!
Large drink selection menu as well.
Overall...very satisfied...
