Wow! Wasn’t sure what to expect with no reviews, but we absolutely loved our dinner tonight.
The atmosphere was nice for dinner - not too loud, not too quiet - and the menu was strong: multiple pasta, fish, and steak entrees to choose from. Caviar for the fancier folks than us!
Appetizers skew towards fish but the non-fish one we picked - wagyu tartar - was delicious, very hearty and tasty. The soup of the day was a watermelon gazpacho, which was unusual enough from its description that I had to try it, and it was quite good! Warm bread was also a plus.
Cocktails were very good - I had a very smooth spiked lemonade - and there is a very full wine list. Cocktails reasonably priced ($12-15 range), wine a little more.
And oh boy the steak! We ordered two pastas, which were fine, but they paled in comparison to the steak meals. The $48 wagyu 10 ounce picanha is a steal of a deal - you can pick a sauce and side (I think there were 6 choices?) and it is just a ton of food, all of it delicious. If you’re on the fence about “steak or something else,” please get this steak. It is not your ordinary Wisconsin steak, which I already hold in high regards. It’s wayyyy better. The wagyu was incredibly soft and perfectly cooked.
There were vegetables on the side, which I was like “yeah thanks but if I eat this I won’t have room for the THICK CUT BACON!” When the side says “millionaires bacon,” I was expecting a single slice or two. I got FIVE big old thick chunks of salty sweetened goodness. Dipping it in the steak sauce made it that much better, my goodness. I was prepared to take home half of this dinner when it was first brought over, because it just looked like too much food. Nope. Ate it all, then and there. The ladies enjoyed their pasta but both had multiple bites of our steaks and sides (Mac and cheese was also popular).
Dessert (key lime curd) was fun looking and good tasting, and the service, which I find is typically strong in Door County, was excellent. We got at least 10 water refills, the waiter was enthusiastic and offered his favorites which we appreciated, and the manager came over just to tell us he loved the smell of the bacon I ordered.
In terms of first impressions, man oh man does this place make one. We were already making plans to come back a second and third time once the rest of our family arrived for the holiday. This was our favorite meal of the trip so far, and we’re quite happy we spotted this place on our drive home. I hope you guys are still here next summer and for years to come!
Seriously: go to CUT. Get the picanha, medium rare, cut sauce, and any side. ...
Read moreLast night we dined at Cut.Our reservation was at 6:45,so we arrived at 6:00 to enjoy cocktails. The new bar is beautiful and all cocktails were handcrafted. The Guillermo, Blue 42, and Brandy Old Fashion were all outstanding! The 5 of us were seated in a banquet for dinner.Soup & salad were delicious.Three of us ordered the 6oz ribeye fillets, and the others ordered lamb chops and gnocchi. There was a choice of sauce for the steak, but it really wasn’t needed because the fillet was perfectly grilled, moist, and tender.A side was also included. I choose the whipped potatoes , but found it too dense once the cheeses were added. We shared a cheese cake & chocolate bar with ice cream for dessert. The wait time for drinks & meal definitely needs some work.We were forwarned and luckily not going to the theatre afterwards. There needs to be some kind of a recommendation like dine before 6:30 if you have time restrictions or if you are concerned about noise levels. It was very difficult to hear each other during peak time, but despite that, we had friendly service and a ...
Read moreToday me and my family wanted to try this new steak house that looked very appealing. The overall vibe of the place screamed fancy but the decor was a bit tacky. We were seated outside on the balcony and the music that this place offered was horrific. It was way too loud and sounded like watered down elevator music. Staff was extremely pleasant, especially our waitress. We ordered our food at around 7:30 and our food came out at around 8:50. Horrible right? We ordered mostly steaks which is normal for a place like this. Our steaks were pretty decent but underdone and not hot. We paid way too much for the food we were given though thankfully the staff was very apologetic for this inconvenience. The manager offered us free deserts which was very thoughtful. This place has a lot of potential but it needs some time to work out the kinks. By no means does this visit justify us not returning so hopefully next time we visit, it will be as delicious as it...
