I really love this little gem so much that I'm really shocked that I haven't written a review sooner. A friend of mine took me here a couple years ago, and I've been coming back every couple months ever since. The food is good, the atmosphere is festive, the staff is friendly, and it's a pretty lively place for drinks and dinner. Plus its right across the street from the Scotia Movie Theater, so it's a great place to grab a bite afterward. I usually start out with their shrimp Gyoza, which are scrumptious and yummy with their little dipping sauce, and a Peking Spring Roll which is deep fried, has shrimp inside, and comes with that orange sweet and sour sauce. Then I'll usually lean into my friend's plates for a taste of their other many delicious apps including Edamame (simple and classic), Shumai (one of my favorites), Thai Chicken Lettuce Cup (an incredible starter and highly recommended for the low carb crowd), or some California Rolls (I accepted that these will almost always be made with imitation crab when I moved back to the east coast, but I still enjoy them). Moving onto my dinner, I'd really love to write about all the wonderful dishes I've tasted, but it would be a true dishonor to not talk about the one dish I order almost EVERY single time... the Singapore Curry Rice Noodles! That savory yellow curry is so fantastic. It has just enough of a little kick to make my nose slightly runny, but not enough to ruin my taste buds for the weekend. It comes with two -- that's right folks TWO -- types of meat (shrimp and roast pork), atop thin rice noodles, and is mixed with egg and the yellow curry powder of course. So if you're in the neighborhood or just looking to check out a new spot with some great food, give Jade Bistro a shot. You might see me with friends getting a little sloppy from too many Lychee or Crisp Cucumber-martinis!

20% gratuity included on dinner for 2. Beware of the fine print that says it “may” be included. It is definitely included. Took forever 2 get our order taken and then didn’t get our water/drinks refilled until we were leaving. All fine until you impose a mandatory $10 tip on 2 sushi roles which by the way have increased in price by 10%. 0 Stars. Here are a few reasons. Average sushi roll is 3 dollars more than any other sushi place in the area. Mr Wasabi is a much nicer place with much better prices and no mandatory tip. I asked that they let me adjust the tip and they said, no. Even after I stated that I would not go back if they enforced the tip. My wife went in a few weeks ago for take out and she waited 20 minutes before being helped and then didn’t get her food until 45 minutes total. This was on her lunch break from work. They have signs up that prices are going up due to costs but no other places in the area have increased prices or decreased serving sizes. This is a neighborhood place. I’d be surprised if they survive with the way they are doing business.

Came here with some friends for dinner, very good and will be coming again! The Food is good and reasonably priced for the area, which isn't the cheapest, but it's going rate at this point. The sushi was delicious, and very unique options compared to other places in the area. Pretty good, as we love trying different sushi rolls. Really, no problems with the food at all, very delicious. The atmosphere was great, like a bit of a confusing decor, but it fits the restaurant. Service was intresting. It was fast, but they initially brought out a roll, then a minute later came and took it back, just saying no, and then a minute later told us it was right and handed it back. Parking was free, there's a lot right outside, so very convenient. Especially for the area. Peanut-friendly options! And very accommodating for allergies. We made a reservation; without it, we would have had to wait, but it was a Saturday evening. Already have plans to come back, so check it out!

Tonight I had dinner at the Jade Bistro in Scotia, and it will be the last.

I will preface this with the only positive, which was that the food was good, as it has been each time I have been there. But the positive ends there.

-Waited at the hostess counter for a significant period of time before being even greeted. (Restaurant was pretty empty and during the entire time there, only one pick up order that went out.

Noticeably long before our server came to the table to ask about drinks or any questions on the menu.

Had ample time to look around and realize there were no other tables that were not already eating, and only 3 in total at all.

Got waters, our drinks were finished.... no server at the table. Eye contact made with server, who was leaning against the hostess stand, nothing.

I joked that I was about to get up and just go get the pitcher of water off the wait staff's service tray and serve us myself.... and then we waited... and waited. I finally did in fact go get the pitcher and refill our waters myself, all while our server just stood there doing nothing. Don't confuse this with "nothing" like chatting with someone or doing something at the hostess area... literal nothing. Leaning on the counter.

A different woman brought our food.

Server started to walk in our direction, saw food on the table, just turned around and back to the leaning. We were about half way through eating and he started walking our direction. (Maybe to ask how our food was? Nope.) He walked to the server station, 3 feet away from us, had no interaction with us, and walked away.

We finished our meal and I joked that I may need to get my own box. It wasn't however very funny, when that is indeed what I needed to do. I got up, went to the server station, got my own to-go box and a bag and bagged the rest of my meal to go.

As our empty plates were moved across the table our server finally made an appearance... to drop off the bill.

I have worked in food service, and I am fully familiar with how hard of work it can be, and what is required of the staff, as well as how reliant server wages are on tips. However, those tips are for actually doing your job. This on the other hand was possibly the least attentive version of showing up at a restaurant and calling yourself a server I've ever experienced. My friend was reluctant but I adamantly said we were not leaving a tip. The fact is, he didn't do even the basic level of his job.

We paid the bill in cash and left. This could have ended the night chalking it up to a bad server and we would have still come back.

BUT, once outside we were followed out by the man who was our server and in front of other customers who were also leaving he yelled to us "the tip is not included in the bill." My friend responded that he was aware of that, and that the man had not done his job. He stated that we got our own water, someone else brought our food, and I even got my own box and bag from their service station.

At this point the man yelled "So no tip?"

Luckily this server was yelling this to people who were calm and also not drinking or that confrontation could have gone very differently for him. My friend said that if he had done his job we would have tipped, and well at that, but he didn't. He didn't do his job.

Other times that either of us have been there it has been good service but this was just unacceptable.

Complete lack of basic service - unacceptable.

Following a customer to the parking lot and then confronting them about not tipping? Even worse.

Confronting a customer in the parking lot, and yelling to them in front of other customers about not tipping? Unprofessional and absolutely unacceptable.

To top it off, clearly this man was so oblivious to how incompetent he had been at his job, that at no point offered an apology of any kind for bad service - shocking. And also, a pretty solid indicator that this is the level of apathy he brings to his job regularly.

No thanks Jade Bistro, we won't be...

STAFF NEEDS TO COMMUNICATE BETTER!!! we placed our order at 6:28pm on a Wednesday night and was told 15-20 minutes by desk girl. Arrived close to 6:45 and order was still not ready. Not a problem but no explanation and NO FOOD until 7:22pm. I asked to speak with the manager and was told “she’s super busy sit and wait a few minutes”. Now 10 minutes later, still no manager. My mother came in worried about me and asked another server to get the manager. The manger appeared and laughed saying “oh sorry I thought you were looking for a job” (that’s why she ignored me for 10 minutes). When my mom explained that the problem was lack of communication between desk girl/ servers and the cooks and we did not mind waiting for good food, it was all just laughed off with a shrug and “oh sorry” from management. My parents have been coming here for over 20 years and they expect more professionalism not to mention I, myself have grown up eating here regularly with my parents and we’ve noticed as a whole that service has been declining in the past year. Very disappointing. Edit on 6/26/22 we returned on the day mentioned above at 6pm. Upon walking in, there were several tables already there but no where near busy. We patiently waited roughly 15 minutes before getting our drink order taken and by this time, the dinner rush began to flow in. Now after coming here frequently AND having nearly 15 minutes to figure out what we wanted to eat, we were about to order food when the server girl finished writing down the drinks but she very quickly ran away, not even giving us the chance to order our food. We then waited another TEN MINUTES before getting our drinks and taking the food order. Two ladies next to our family and another couple at the bar came in after us but received food BEFORE we did?!? We didn’t order anything from the sushi bar but we gave those two guys a better tip than our waitress… service and quality here continues to decline with every visit, very unfortunate. edit 5/14/23 I am absolutely disgusted with this place and this is my final visit. I tried calling every few minutes for 45mins and the phone line went straight to their voicemail, they claimed to be busy. It’s usually a good 30min wait for togo on weekends and I decided to take my chances on timing and order while on the way there. After unsuccessfully getting ahold of them by phone, I walked in to place an order to go, I was told with severe attitude “we aren’t doing that right now”. I saw it was busy and I can understand prioritizing dine in, but attitude was not necessary. Furthermore, I saw several Togo tickets lined up on their table and I HELD THE DOOR FOR SOMEONE WITH TAKEOUT BAGS!!! At least answer the damn phone and tell people that you’re too busy to be taking togo orders. I’ve never lost more time, money, or gas because of a restaurant with such LOUSY service...

Third time is not a charm...my wife and went out for date night to jade bistro The place was busy, to be expected for Saturday around dinner time. We got seated fairly quickly. The lady acting as server was given too many tables it seems. She provided the bare minimum of attention to the table, and after 20 minutes took the order. Appetizers came out fairly quickly, but had to remind her we asked for two salads. My dinner came out, but not my wife's. We waited another 20 minutes for hers to show up. Some of the ingredients (hibachi) were cold, some warm, but nothing hot. The server just looked confused, and tried to cover, but it seemed to us that they/she forgot about it in the kitchen. She took it off the bill after I insisted. So, sad to say no more Jade Bistro for us again. It's unfortunate because the food is delicious there. A restaurant survives on consistency, quality and service. It's now been too many times with a lack of all three to support them. Akanomi will be where we go moving forward.

Review 2 The previous review is below, the new one it this: So, we've gone back again a few more times and they're more consistent now. Food is good services is fast and prices are fair for this kid of stuff. At this point, I'm raising my review "stars." I hope they keep it up. It's again a place we enjoy going to.

Review 1 Before this was Jade Bistro, it was Dragon Garden. We LOVED Dragon Garden. Especially their Dim Sum. After it became Jade Bistro, I stopped by for take out. I called in the order and picked it up. When I got home, they had completely forgotten to pack one of the Meals. I called and they were very apologetic. "We're so very sorry I see it in the kitchen. They didn't pack it." They gave me my cost back plus tax. Today I thought I'd try them again. This time when I got home, the Dim Sum was literally raw and cold. Again I called and again I got the apology. They won't get a third time for...
