It's a great park with a small lake, playground, splash pad, picnic tables and a pavilion that can be rented. Tennis and basketball courts are available, and ice cream and burgers are just across the street. The Mohawk River meanders close by with picnic tables situated along the bank. The public library and small eateries are close by as well. Freedom Park hold concerts during the Summer and there are water skiing shows too. Fireworks for the 4th of July are usually scheduled to happen based on when the holiday falls and they are usually set off from the island in the Mohawk River. Read moreThe park is beautiful, minus the disgusting lake and beach area. Now more than ever, I see families trying to fish there, due to the coronavirus shutdown. Everything is overgrown and covered in algae. There is only one little spot at the back by Washington Ave where you can even throw the line in. I see families almost in a queue waiting for others to leave that one spot, so they can have a chance to fish.
Also, the beach area is completely filled with bird feces. It is absolutely disgusting to walk in that area.
