Unfriendly and bad information. I called a few days in advance to order large tubs of frozen custard. While that guy was fairly friendly, he told me I didn't need to order ahead unless I wanted a daily flavor. The day I needed the buckets, I asked my husband to call with the order so they'd have it ready when I got there in about 20 minutes. They told him he didn't need to order ahead, but acted as if they were going to have it ready. That was after rudely telling him to hang on, that she was in the middle of something.
When I got there, as with several earlier times, the staff wasn't friendly or even attentive. Eventually, I got someone's attention. She looked in the freezer case, and found that there was nothing there for me. She called back to someone in the back, and asked what she was supposed to do. I could hear her be told to offer me pints. The woman then asked me how many I wanted. I explained that I needed as many pints as would equal the buckets of vanilla and chocolate that I had ordered. She didn't know how many that would be.
She asked if I wanted three pints of each, so I told her so long as that didn't make me get charged more than I was going to already pay, then yes. She set about getting the six pints together, and that's what I noticed the pricing for three pints being $17. When she finished up the order, she said to me, "You want to be charged for the bucket price. "I then expressed to her that since pints are three for $17 and the large bucket was more than that, no, I did not want to be charged the same as a bucket.
When I got the pints home a few minutes later, a couple were filled to the top, but the other four weren't full. Besides that, they were partially melted, and messy. Next time, although it's farther from my house, I'll get my custard from Abbott's Frozen Custard of Greece instead of Bill Gray's. Same product, just one definitely done better...
Read moreI've been to this location three times. Three times I have walked out disappointed and now have no interest in returning. Which is a shame because it's exactly the kind of place we need in the area.
Trip 1) Friend from out of town came back home. Went for some beers and food. Sat at bar. Bartender takes our drink order, takes our credit cards, then (without us knowing)...just goes home. Finally inquire why no one is helping us, staff has to find our cards (appeared to be stolen for a few minutes), has to get someone from up front to take our order. New waitress has no idea what the Burger Melt is, can't find it in system. Promises she will be back. Never comes back. A relatively short visit turned into hours because of gross incompetence.
Late lunch. Sat at bar. Brings messed up food order out. People around us had similar issues.
Large party. Sat in back room in bar. Bartender slow and disinterested. Seemed confused on how to pour drinks. In theory have two bartenders on duty, they must be instructed to only work one area because will absolutely ignore you if you're on the wrong side. Literally if you're one bar stool away you are out of luck. Waitress completely out of her league. Doesn't bring ordered drinks twice, forgets kids drink. Several orders either messed up and altogether missing. Never bothered to see if anyone needed anything. Try to speak to manager, workers up front aren't sure who the manager is. Finally get a manager to talk to, seemed completely disinterested in my complaint. Brings wrong drink anyway. Very rude.
As I'm waiting, a customer returns a sandwich that is burnt beyond recognition. Baffling how it ever left the kitchen.
I understand there are some growing pains involved in a relatively new place. And hey, sometimes things happen. But, it doesn't seem like anyone is in charge or cares when it matters the most which makes all the difference...
Read moreUpdated 12/29/2020: I am updating my review since last month I did visit Bill Gray's N Greece Rd location. I was very leery due to Covid and having to go into the location for pickup but they did an exceptional job. The interior was clean, shields were up at all countertop locations. They truly followed the guidelines set. I was very comfortable picking up my food. The food was hot and fresh. I would definitely highly recommend this location. They have made many improvements over the time they first opened.
Updated 10/27/2020: I wanted to give an update to my last review. After my last review, I was contacted by a representative of Bill Gray's and was given a $30 gift card to use at one of their locations. I did go back (3 times) to try it out and it was like day and night. I was very pleased with the service and quality of the food. I would give them 4 stars at this time. I have not been during the pandemic so I can't give my opinion.
I love Bill Gray's but I have had 3 consecutive experiences of warm fries and fish. I've had under cooked fish as well. These experiences were dine in and pick up. I called in a complaint after the 3rd experience and was compensated on a future replacement meal. When I called back for the replacement meal, let's just say they weren't warm and fuzzy. When I went to pick it up, I still had to explain that this was a complimentary replacement. Sorry to say but I will just go to other locations because I had great experiences there. This one is literally around the corner but I wont be going back there. Maybe your experience will or has been...
