Came in with coworkers to wind down from a stressful week at work and to also celebrate two of their birthdays.
We were seated right away, as we waited for the last person to show up, we ordered drinks, chips and guacamole to start. Before I continue, I have to say that I am a professional Executive Chef, with a degree in Culinary Arts, as well as Business and Restaurant Management, so my review may be different from others.
The good:
Great atmosphere, amazing view, love that the train passes by as you eat and drink. Whomever was the bartender, please keep that person and give them a raise! The drinks were amazing and more importantly consistent to taste, color in every way. I assure you, it will be hard to only have one drink with how perfectly made they are.
The chips and Guacamole tasted amazing, worth buying as a starter completely so I recommend it.
Now, I will speak of where it went down hill.
We all placed our orders, first I will say that the waitress was sweet, very attentive, but should have written down our orders. I say that because we all ordered food and specifically said certain things, one said no coleslaw, another said no pickles, I wanted truffle fries, and someone else wanted sweet potatoe fries.
None of our orders came as we asked, so our food had to be taken back for correction. I had ordered the Cuban Sandwich with truffle fries. I received regular fries, and when they returned my plate, all they did were sprinkle the truffle fry mix on my fries I stead of doing it correctly and mixing the fries with the blend in a mixing bowl.
My sandwich was dry, the pork very dry for a Cuban Sandwich and there was no ham which is part of a Cuban sandwich. My co worker who ordered the same sandwich said the same exact thing.
The fries were good, just upset that they didn't do my fries correctly, my friend who ordered regular fries received truffle fries and those fries were done correctly and tasted amazing.
Everyone at the table didn't eat much of the food, we all ordered sandwiches and everyone was disappointed with them.
Maybe a Friday night isn't the time to order sandwiches?
When we first walked in, one co-worker mentioned that we are celebrating birthdays if they can please send over two cakes for with candles right after dinner. When we were done with dinner, the waitress came, they took our plates and we ordered dessert and waited. My co worker had to go remind them about the birthdays. The gentleman that brought the birthday cakes came and sang happy birthday with us and said the cakes were on the house.
Maybe it was an off day for sandwiches, but it's hard to say as all five of us were very disappointed with our meals and no one hardly ate. However, the drinks were amazing and we've all decided to give this place another chance in April.
Next time we will make reservation's as it will be with...
Read moreLet me preface this with the fact that I am not a fussy eater (literally eat practically anything you put in front of me), I'm a very patient man AND I don't make a scene or cause stress to staff and the clients around me... I'm a pleasant person. Anyway, this was probably the worst experience I've had in years! Service was lacking attentiveness (only about 4 or 5 tables sat and after watching our server hold her head [i get it, it's tiring, been there] and talking with another server behind the counter for the whil, we had to literally yell to the server to get our order taken. I'm sorry Tara but it's true.) My friend ordered the Bruschetta, bland and not memorable (to the point that I had to come back and write this after almost finishing this review). She ordered a salad with a balsamic which, when it arrived, looked in-cre-di-ble!!!! I didn't try it but it was a large portion and she finished at least 3/4ths of the dish. The problem was the Hangar "Steak" I ordered. When it arrived it wasn't a steak, but beef medallions (pictured). I expressed my disapproval to the server, but told her I was so hungry that I would eagerly eat anything and not to worry. It was definitely not cooked to order (I asked for rare) and after one bite I literally pushed the plate as far away as I could without it falling off the 6 top we sat at. The server came by at some point to ask if everything was okay (which I found quite funny since it was clear I wasn't eating and the plate sat there lonely and sad, not even the flies daring to venture near it). I assumed that she saw it when she came by again to ask about drinks and literally stood next to the untouched plate... no awareness level points scored. When the check arrived (this was a quick visit) I left a $100 bill in the sleeve for what was approximately a $60 tab. I also wrote a message on the tab expressing that the steak was terrible. When she came back with my change she apologized for the fact that I wasn't happy with the steak, but hadn't removed it from the check (I actually told my friend that I assumed they would remove it from the tab so I would leave a $25 tip [the cost of the "steak"] in addition to her 25% tip [i was going to leave 25% of the original check] my usual gratuity wherever I go). Having worked in a dozen restaurants and having 5 uncles who own multiple restaurants, I was a little confused by how this was handled. So, instead of almost a $40 tip she earned $14 gratuity and the restaurant earned this candid review. Obviously I don't plan to return. Went to Pipers Kilt instead and got the Eastchester burger. Amazing!!!!! I highly recommend it. And their kitchen was open after...
Read moreWe went to Hudson Social for our end of year school party as suggested by a colleague. We reserved the upstairs loft which felt a little cramped with 40 people who attended our party. We ordered a package that included hand foods like fried shrimp, garlic fries, string beans, pizza, charcuterie board, hummus and veggies, chicken skewers and some other mentionables. Our party was on a cash bar basis and booked during happy hour from 4-7. During the booking we were under the impression that our drinks would be at happy hour prices. Once there we were told that the happy hour prices are only applicable to the bar area only, so our drinks were more being upstairs. I stuck to the Captain Lawrence draft beer while some of my colleagues said their cocktails were not strong enough. The food was delicious and our server Gustavo or "Gus" was very nice, courteous and friendly and attentative to everyone's needs. Bathrooms were clean but long lines because they were small. The outside has a nice place to stand and view the Hudson. I went on a cloudy overcast day, but I'm sure it's very beautiful on a sunny day. Another plus is the Dobbs Ferry metro north is right next door if you want to drink and not worry about driving home. If you drive, there's a parking lot - just ask them for a pass to put in your window to park for free. The lot is separate from the Metro north which is next to the Hudson Social lot. Maybe I'll come again on a nicer day when they're...
