So, I don't normally post reviews, but I had to for eggcellent. I first found out about them when I dropped my boyfriend off for his job at the mall, but we were early, and he had asked if I wanted to get boba at this tasty boba stand that had popped up (and was only around for one more week). I ordered the créme burlé boba tea, and idk what they put in their drinks, but it just tastes SOO much fresher/smoother/creamier than most other places I've had around Albany. It was absolutely delicious. I picked up from them nearly every day until they finally closed the stand, I was definitely bummed about it, and fell back to Romanteac in the meantime (another quality boba shop, but theyre out of the way enough). But now, they've finally got their own location! I've been there nearly every day of the week since, and I've probably tried most of the menu at this point 💀 The cheese foam and milk teas are their best for sure, they have matcha tiramisu and cheesecake which I've not seen anywhere around Albs, and they were absolutely delicious (the tiramisu was dense, sweet, and earthy of course, and the cheesecake was perfectly creamy along with the slight matcha earthiness.) I haven't tried the cheese tarts, they come in different flavors which is also something I haven't seen around here before, but that's because they're usually sold out. Last but not least, the staff is absolutely wonderful, I can't even list specific names because every interaction I've had with them has been positive. Overall, I definitely recommend giving them a try, and would go as far as saying they're the best in their...
Read moreWe heard this hidden gem in Albany for awhile. We was delighted by their delicious offerings and the friendly owner with cozy ambiance.
The Cheese Tarts were absolutely divine. The crust was perfectly buttery and crumbly, providing a delightful base for the rich and creamy cheese filling. Each bite was a heavenly combination of sweet and savory, with a subtle tanginess that made it truly irresistible. The tarts were baked to perfection, resulting in a golden brown crust that added an extra layer of texture and flavor.
In addition to the Cheese Tarts, the Green Tea Tiramisu and Bubble Tea with homemade taro paste were exceptional as well. The Green Tea Tiramisu had a delicate balance of flavors, and the green tea essence elevated the classic dessert to a whole new level. The Bubble Tea with homemade taro paste was a true delight, with the luscious taro paste adding a unique and delicious twist to the drink.
I must commend Eggcellent for their attention to detail and the quality of their ingredients. Each treat was crafted with care and expertise, resulting in a remarkable culinary experience.
Apart from the mouthwatering treats, what stood out to me was the warm and friendly nature of the owner. They greeted me with a smile and made me feel right at home. It's always a joy to visit a place where the owner genuinely cares about their customers' experience. The cozy ambiance added to the...
Read moreThey have the best drinks in albany! My favorites are: the rose milk tea (theirs is the only rose drink I've had around here that actually tastes floral! I always ask for no sugar, no ice). the creme brulee brown sugar latte (if you mix it a little bit, (I think) it tastes even better!). the yuzu egg tarts (the egg tarts are like a custard kind of thing; at Eggcellent, the tarts taste like a proper dessert, rather than a quiche or something).
They also have some coffee flavors, which is great for starting the day. In addition to bubbles, they also have fruit teas, milk teas, yakult (probiotic) teas, and a matcha tiramisu and a matcha cheesecake! The tiramisu is sooo good!
Their egg tarts are great, too! They have different flavors -- ube, yuzu (like lemon), "original", and caramel. Each is delightful! (If you save them for later, consider warming them before eating them.) I like the yuzu best.
The owners are friendly, and the eating space is well lit and pleasant to sit in. Window seats and table seats exist. They are on western ave, in albany. Next to Casey Vision, across the street...
