5 stars for the architecture alone! Such a gem of a building. A total must-see. I’ve been to this place when it was called Common Ground. They closed for a long time- over a decade. The same group renovated the building and brought back what seems like almost the same menu. I haven’t been able to eat there yet because they have an extremely limited menu. Not a super celiac-friendly place. I asked if they could grill a turkey and provolone sandwich and they said no, but they could steam it? I couldn’t fathom why a soup and sandwich place wouldn’t have a grill or even just a grill pan to make a grilled cheese. So strange. And, speaking of strange, this is still owned by the same collective that ran it before- they are an intentional community known as Twelve Tribes. They can come off very strong in their approach- in an overly friendly way. I’m not used to being greeted and seated at a cafe. I’d prefer to order at the counter and choose my own seat. And please, for the love of whatever deity you worship, please get a grill and stop steaming...
Read moreI have heard all the rumors, all the judgmental parents in the village, so I decided to try this today. It was absolutely stunning first off. The architecture inside looks like a tree house, the smell is addicting, and the outside is just as cute. The owner (I’m guessing) gave me samples of their coffee, gave me time to look at the menu and look around, and it was all very simple and lovely. The coffee is fantastic!! The sandwich, soup and salad was perfect. No one approached me about anything other than their recommendations, everyone was very nice and welcoming and next time I plan on sitting down with a nice book or something. Sometimes the best gems are run by people who are not your average day corporate average joes. And sometimes those places have the best food and experiences. Give them a chance,...
Read moreWe are SO excited that The Yellow Deli is finally open here in WNY! This is the 2nd location I’ve been to (Vista, CA and now here) and they put so much time and love into the restaurant.
Although the menu is limited, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is like no other. The craftsmanship is beyond any restaurant I’ve ever been to and the people are so kind and welcoming.
It’s sad there are already negative reviews on here from people who haven’t even visited and are judging solely based on the beliefs, religion, and the people behind The Yellow Deli. Do yourself a favor and ignore the negative reviews and try it yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
Can’t wait...
