Jake's Grub & Grog — Restaurant in Town of Hastings

It is a bar with a side resturant. Service was good. I think they have room to improve. My fish was burnt and I thought it was weird that they served the drinks in plastic cups, so at the end of the night we had 30 plastic cups on the table for the 8 people that were at the table. Food to the table from order was definitely slower than we are used to. A hour and 11 min from order to food brought out to the table. I think the food was a bit overpriced. $3 for a slice of cheese is a bit on the crazy side of things. And to charge $2 for a dollop of extra sauce was unexpected. Berriea taco sauce was French onion soup, but it made for a flavored twist. Potato wedges were on point, the lack of a kids menu was depressing as we had to order 2 adult dinners for the kids. We didnt expect a 1/2 weeks pay for the dinner of 5 people and 3 kids but we really wanted to try the place. Im not saying its bad for what we got,...

We just celebrated my Mother-in-law's 80th birthday party in the banquet room at Jake's, and if I could give more stars, I would. The room is huge and beautiful and was set up before we arrived to finish prepping for the guests. Jake paid careful attention to all the details and requests, and made planning an event with 60 people so easy. The food was amazing with plenty to go around and take home, and the compliments on the food were constant throughout the party and after. Heather and Chelsea were rock stars and never skipped a beat! The party could not have gone more smoothly, and we couldn't have done that without them. We have lived in the general area for 11 years and Jake's was always one of the "we should try it" places but never got around to it til today. First place is very nice. Big! Good social distancing. Atmosphere is sports bar ish without going over the top. Server Lori was attentive and friendly. I had steamed clams for my appetizer and they were spot on. My wife had the French Dip with Onion Rings about as good as it can get. I had the Prime Rib Burger with tater tots. Now this is gonna sound dumb but the OR and TT WERE PERFECT. Our sandwiches were delicious. The drinks were good and prices for them were on par. We were there after the SU/Pitt game so the place was quiet. Was just my wife and I venturing out today..
