I rate it a 3.9 stars. Restaurant is next to the Hudson River. Nice view as you drive into the property from above, street level. We were seated originally by the water and you had to walk through a dusty dirt space about 100 ft. It was a bit breezy so opted for the outside tent, a table next to the main dining room. There was a group of about 8-10 people with small children running around. We were served chips and a mayo based sauce which was tasty, however, the chips were stale, hard. Ordered! Mango margarita which was refreshing for the moment, and plenty of water. The staff i must say very professional all around, attentive, catered to our needs. They were appreciative of the opportunity for the business, very humble. The menu has a combination of Latin apps such as empanadas(patties), and the conventional app such as calamari, Mac n cheese, and main plates like lechon or pernil (roasted pork), or pastelon (steak, sweet plantain mixed together), steaks, burger etc it was Fusion based. Ordered the meat empanadas(2)which to my surprise the way they looked was not how they tasted. They were delicious, not greasy, good seasoning. For the main course ordered the red snapper with coconut rice, small delicate salad w carrots, cabbage, and green plantains (tostones) these were cold/a bit hard. The snapper was meaty, juicy, fried to my liking as requested, tasty. The rice was mushy, sticky, disapointing. Ordered pernil(roasted pork) it was cooked to perfection, large portion, 2 can share, the meat was soft to the touch, enjoyed it very much, and it was accompanied by a small potatoe salad, with arroz con guandules ( pidgeon pea rice) which was ok. Also ordered maduros ( sweet plantains). You will definitely not go home hungry. On a different note, the group of 8-10 the mother was screaming at the children, very uncomfortable, and one of the children was riding an electric scooter inside the area. Nobody from the establishment addressed it. I could not have dessert, i was full. Had a conversation with our server, and another server regarding the place. Found out the restaurant closes for the winter beginning of October and through the winter, and they have other locations, however not in Rockland County. As we were walking out our server approached us with a complimentary after dinner drink coquito ( little coconut), alcoholic based, eggnog would be an equivalent but nowhere close to its taste. Very delicious, be careful sneaks up in you. Considering everything if it wasn't for the staff i would not return. I'll give them another try...
Read moreMade reservations for 7:30 valet service available, and got seated right away which was a plus. Staff was friendly and our order was taken couple of minutes later. However, service was slow we didn't get our drinks till like 20 min later and food like 25 min. We were supplied tortilla chips (slightly stale but still good) in the mean time to hold us but still good and dip - (I didn't really like it they should include a salsa or guac dip instead). The best part tho is admiring the awesome view of water surrounding the place, and music was also great as well. The vibe was just right. I ordered a blue Hawaiian which was tall and great, Pina colada was tasteful as well. Peach mojito was okay it was very strong. We ordered the appetizer combo which came with BBQ wings-Great sauce, boneless chicken A+, Calamari-good, sauce had a slight kick to it I liked it, and Empanadas- 1 beef, 1 Chicken-My favorite. Everything was very tasteful and not dry at all, definitely recommend.
The entrees ordered were Mofongo with shrimp (salty but good), Oxtails (Very good), and Skirt steak (churrasco)- My steak came out rare it was very chewy I couldn't eat it, they made me a fresh one with the right medium temperature which turned out a lot better. The manager was kind enough to comp it due to the inconvenience which was a plus. Potato salad was good too, I didn't care for the black rice but that is subjective.
I did realize that their prices in their menu do not reflect what is on the receipt. For example, Pina Colada was advertised for $12 and on the bill it was $15. The Mofongo I believe was $2 extra on the bill as well. We was just told our prices went up, which wasn't a great excuse they should of honor their prices listed but because I got my meal comp I didn't make a big deal out of it but for future references check your bills because I don't feel that is fair. They definitely should update their menu prices. Also we were a party of 3 and gratuity is automatically included at 18% - just a heads up.
Overall, I had a great time with my family and it was a nice experience. This restaurant is Pricey but worth going because the atmosphere is very nice, drinks were great, and food is still...
Read moreIt was more like 2&1/2 stars. Went to dinner with my wife, my brother and sister in law. Upon arriving, we were welcomed by a lovely lady who asked if we had reservations(which we did). She directed us to an area off to the side while the table was readied. I went into the bar to see the drink menu(nothing too crazy - it was just one page on one side. There wasn'teven a beer or wine list which made me not even ask about those). Before I returned, I saw a gentleman taking them to a table so I started to walk over to join them and order drinks from the table. When the gentleman told my brother "party for 5" my brother corrected him and said "no, 4". He guided us to a big table where 6 could sit and we started to sit. The person then came back and said "I will get you another table" and he directed us to another one. My wife told the guy that we were okay but he said the "table was for a party of 5 or more". My wife told him that her brother in law had told him that we were a party of 4 before and he just made a face and said "this is a better table with better views" - note: it was a table 3 down(25ft) away with the same views. The guy was very rude talking under his breath and giving bad/dirty looks. Not a good start. We ordered drinks and they came without any garnish. My wife had made mention to which the waiter came back with a small sauce cup with cherries(??). Once we ordered, food came out and it was fantastic - no complaints about any of the food. Sadly, we didn't order anymore drinks from the bar. The wait staff appeared to be overwhelmed or maybe just shorthanded because we were never asked if anything additional was needed and had to try and get their attention when we did need something, which if they would have just checked on us we wouldn't have had to do. Management or ownership needs to speak with the crew and have them shown some better customer service. I would have given it less stars but the food is really good and that was the saving grace. Out for now, see you at...
