Lucas Candies — Restaurant in Town of Haverstraw

I can't recommend Lucas Candies enough! It has the absolute best chocolate in New York, so creamy and perfect! I have been coming here for years and time and again, I have found their chocolate, jelly beans, and candies to be the best I've ever tried. I absolutely love this shop for a few reasons: 1) This chocolate is 100% homemade and is the most delicious chocolate I have ever tasted (and I've tried a lot). I always get the raisin clusters, and crispy rice clusters, and then a whole box of bulk milk choc, white choc and dark choc. Delicious. 2) The store is straight out of a Hallmark movie -- it's decorated for the season and has the most adorable penny tiles on the floors, an old fashioned chocolate candy counter, and the staff is so welcoming and kind. 3) The Tavern is a great spot to grab a beer (or wine) and pair it with their fantastic chocolate. I make the drive here every chance I can to stock up on anything and everything. It makes for the best gifts to give to friends and family and enjoy at home! Love this...

I was just there via American Cruise Line on an excursion. I was so looking forward to this shop since it’s been in business for so long. Well, when the female business partner was asked how they make chocolate, her response was “I don’t know”. They outsource the cacao beans to another company to make the chocolate. Then I purchased a box of chocolate covered pretzels as a gift. When I got home, for whatever reason, I turned the box over. First, the candy expired as of 8-24. Second, the candy was brought in from another company located in New Jersey. ...

The best chocolate period. Decor and moldings of the treats could use help as can the personalities that work there. Pricey for those slack designs, bubbles in the skin of the chocolate, packaging and customer service but damn, dat chocolate is good. It would do them good to offer samples, especially to long-standing customers that come from a half hour away multiple times a year. Throw in a small treat when someone spends $75 or more on candy, it's the smart...
