Wide Awake Bakery — Restaurant in Town of Hector

TL;DR: The hours of operation are incredibly frustrating.

Let me start by saying that the pastries here are excellent—my roommate has brought some home a few times, and they’re wonderful. That said, I find the hours of operation quite frustrating.

I already knew the store was closed on weekends. But I just discovered they're also closed weekday mornings (slightly ironic given the name). I had an appointment this morning and thought I’d stop by afterward to grab a croissant and cappuccino on my way into work—only to learn they don’t open until 11 AM.

With store hours limited to 11 AM–6 PM Tuesday through Friday, the shop is effectively inaccessible to much of the local community. No chance to grab a coffee and pastry before work if you're on a 9–5, nor on the weekend—and I’ve heard that if you don’t get there early, they often sell out quickly.

Jealous of those whose schedules allow them to patronize this place! Guess the rest of us are stuck with...

Words cannot describe the goodness of their bread. A proper crust dotted with a plethora of seeds, whole wheat grown by local organic farmers and milled just a few miles away.

More so than "white and dusty", did you know that fresh whole grains actually have a FLAVOR? Nutty, forest-y, bright. You don't get a carbo-crash after eating it either; this stuff is sustaining energy.
