Across Broadway Cafe — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

I have absolutely no complaints about the food. They have great options and all of it is delicious. It is quite busy here which is a sign of good food. However it makes for slow service and is difficult to stop in for lunch because you will be late returning to work. I called just last week to place an order for pick up. I was told to hold ONE MINUTE and they never got back to me. I drove to the restaurant myself and placed the order in person and then told the lady that it's OK to hang up my call that I've been waiting 20 minutes for somebody to take my order! She was very Apologetic which was not her responsibility since she is not the one who left me holding, it was a guy. I LOVE this little place in Hewlett, I stop by once in awhile on a lunch break from where I work. They have a wide range of menu choices and everything that I've tried here I love. It's like Hewlett's little diner. I came here once with a guy I was briefly seeing after I had begun my divorce process. We ended up discontinuing seeing each other but we remained friends until he sadly died from covid. I like coming here sometimes because it helps me remember him, being in a spot where we once hung out for an hour. I've taken one of my friends here too she loves it. This place manages to mess up EVERY SINGLE ORDER. That’s a talent. The food is decent when they aren’t skimping on the eggs (only giving one scrambled egg when the menu states two presumably since most people cant tell the difference). But today was the last time i order from here. I had my Cesar salad delivered with no chicken and few days ago and today got none of the side order bacon.
