The 1 rating is solely for the staff. They could or would never see it in themselves, yet, I see it; they’re separatists. In their prejudgment of “others,” in their speech towards “others,” and in their treatment of “others.” As a Black woman, of a certain age being bombarded with micro-aggressions are the rule and not the exception. That being said, I am convinced, the staff there saw me as some homeless waif, or loiterer; but no, sorry to disappoint, I am none of the above. However, I am a homeowner, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a college graduate who happens to hold two degrees, a member of a National Association in my field of study, holder of three licenses, and a college professor.

Why this conviction?, well, here’s why: A simple request for wipes to wipe down a desk I wish to use, was met with, “I can only give you one (1) sheet.” Really to wipe down a desk and chair? And this has happened on more than one occasion. I am almost certain no one else asks for this (so there’s no shortage or demand to burden revenue); because “Most folks are just not very sanitary or hygienic. Not judging, as I’m in no position to judge. Merely stating facts.

It gets better …

Surprisingly for a Saturday morning, the library was for the most part empty; so, it was quite noticeable when both staff members (an older female and a middle aged male) found it necessary to walk by and look in my direction. And as I usually sit off by myself for quiet, their stalking/harassment of me was all too obvious. Initially I put them on ignore (but the petty person that I am), I went back to their desk to suggest a book I am reading, “All About Love New Visions,” by bell hooks. They were both missing; and I kid you not, the three containers of wipes that are usually kept on the file cabinets were (I am quite certain for the first time) placed out of site. WOW, REALLY? I was done wiping the desk, and had already shown them how filthy the wipes were when I was done. I guess they profiled me as “the wipes-napper.” Lol 😂

Guess I am lucky the T.P. in the restroom was not in short supply… SMH

yep, there’s more … After having been there for hours, it seems the male staff may have enlisted his superior, as the two walked right by the desk where I was seated, feigning some arbitrary work discussion (can anyone say, “subtle???”). A major character trait of a separatist is deception. The two walked by speaking a little loudly for library work; so, she “graciously” apologized. And as I presumed this was directed at me (as I said the library was fairly empty), I politely responded “it’s okay” (or something to that effect), without ever looking up from the book I was reading. Later, it occurred to me that her ”I’m sorry,” was a cunning ploy to get me to look up from the book I was reading, in order to see my face. Smh An introductory greeting would have sufficed, but I guess I don’t rate that kindness, respect or “love.” Yea I said it … LOVE

Wow, a bit much over a request for a few wipes (one wipe would have been insufficient).

A whole lot of ‘much-ado-about-nothing!’

Do I really need to bring “Clorox Wipes” to a public library, that my tax dollars pays to keep in operation?

Was all the shenanigans really necessary, was this that serious?

You would think in this digital/internet age that the library staff would be glad to see that they still have patrons, to justify their wage.

Here’s a thought (free of charge), as management and staff have so much free time to spend on such trivial matters, maybe downsize a bit more, and then librarians could spare a patron four (4) sheets of wipes without it causing a federal case. Or wait, maybe he gave his boss the impression there was more to this, wow, wow … sorry “boss” it was just this silly inconsequential nonsense you were called to “oversee” …. pun absolutely intended.

As for the library itself: its resources, equipment and atmosphere I...

This is my home away from home. Sometimes I think it's my actual home, and the place where my mail is sent is the home away from home. Anyway, aside from being an architectural stunner, the library is always stocked with best sellers of every genre and an impressive array of alternative media. The graphic novel and young adults sections are especially varied and filled with topical, relevant, and engaging texts. If I had more time I would participate in some of the programs that the library offers, but by the looks of the parking lot, many local residents attend the programs. Their online catalog makes book surfing easy. Their app is incredible. The digital Library is my life. The staff is friendly, helpful, and informed. They always have an Eclectic display of recommendations. The library is reason enough to move to this...

Came here for a free concert with my family, which includes 2 little kids, and absolutely loved the concert (shout out to a fantastic performance by Miriam Waks) - and the library itself. The building is architecturally beautiful and well-maintained, with dedicated sections for self-study, computer work, and a beautifully renovated children's area with a reading nook and other seating areas.

There was also an artwork display by local schoolchildren which was fantastic. Clean, well-lit, brightly colored furniture, quiet, and an outside seating area as well - this library has it all! (Plus the bathrooms are tidy and nice - a huge factor for me...
