Chickies Five Towns Kosher — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Fast food. Nice location. That's why I give it 3 stars. My order took less than 10 minutes. Location has a nice design, despite 3 extra large screens self promoting Chickies events. My disappointment is in the hype vs experience. Even at the front counter, there were two people telling me that this location is trying to differentiate from other Chickie locations and set a higher standard. They said the food is better, and that portions are generous. As you can see from uploaded photos, it's $24 for a poppers with fries - and the small boxes have plenty of room for generosity. Spicy fries can use some flavor. Some of nuggets are small and dried out. If this combo was 13.99, the review might have been higher because the expectation would meet the hype. Again, the design and speed of the store is great. But now I have to go fill up...

I am very disappointed that I have not made it to Chickies until now! The food was insanely good, fresh and hot. No soggy veg but crisp lettuce and tomatoes. Sandwich bread was soft with a crispy crust. Chicken was seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection. Even though it is in middle of summer at 10pm at night, there was a constant stream of people coming in to order. The screens on the walls were slightly annoying distraction and it could have done with some background music but I will definitely be coming back here again.

Update: The sandwiches were just as great as previously but the fries were disappointing - not crisp at all. The empanadas are a great hit! The store is generally clean but the bentchers need to be cleaned and...

But… I ordered the Pollo Estrada. As somewhat of a franchise in the kosher world I hoped for better execution in the sandwich build.

They cut the sandwich fully thru which causes issues with the breads ability to hold the components together during biting. This is exacerbated by the fact that the sandwich is layered (from bottom to top) as bread, lettuce/pickles, shnitzel, sauce, tomatoes and finally bread again.

This causes each bite to miss all the components of the sandwich. The slickness of the tomato and sauce on top coupled with the grease catching pickles and lettuce on the bottom creates an unpleasant biting experience.
