Premium price - without the smile
If I can describe my experience falling for the "Buy 3 for 2" promo that is the usual lure that attracts people to this storefront:
I walked in to place my '3 for 2' order. You almost feel like you're doing something wrong because you'll be greeted with a "What do you want?" question with attitude that resembles some of what you'd expect from NYC establishments 20 years ago. But this is a Jewish business on Long Island. I'm sure if I walked into a fast food joint here, I'd be greeted with a "Welcome to McDonalds! How can I help you?". Moving on, I ordered my 3 for 2 (Alaska Roll, Spicy Salmon, California) which amounted to about $13 and change. As I see them quickly preparing my rolls, I ask if I can have it placed on a single larger plate instead of 3 smaller plates. So this is the issue that bugged me and the reason why I'm writing a negative review at all: The person behind the counter told me that there'd be a $5 platter charge. So being a free market American, I totally get the idea that if I don't like the price - walk away (and yes, I turned it down). But I was so bothered by it. Maybe it was the general demeanor or maybe that $5 for a bigger plate is scam. Either way, none of the other sushi places around here charge to have your food placed on a bigger dish (yes, it was a PAPER plate 'to go'). And if a person were to order a platter, there is no additional $5 platter charge. Imagine going to a pizza place and asking for a bigger box when ordering 3 slices instead of having each slice in it's brown paper bag. This is the same thing. I wonder if they're losing business and desperate for any means of charging or just bad at business. Why should I pay a premium for shushi and bad service when I can get decent sushi with a smile at any...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible service... ordered just an order of fries & waited over 30 mins for it...no one even asked when we remained seated waiting, if they could assist us...the man at the cashier proceeded to help himself to the order of the people next to us...he quickly stuffed a handful of the food from the tray into his mouth at the side , before serving the platter too them..it was disgusting & unsanitary. I was shocked. I then got up & tried to ask someone about my order. Only to have the guy put his head down at me when he clearly saw me asking something. When I finally got a hold of someone. I was told that the order was delivered to the wrong table. The people at that table had left already but the fry platter remained there. The man picked it up from the table & asked if I want it. I was appalled. I said "No, she ate from it." He then proceeded to tell me that she didn't. Which he wouldn't have known from behind the counter taking orders I don't usually do this but ....overall my worst experience at a...
