I was stoked about this place because of all the great stuff I had heard about it through friends. "Oh man you gotta try this donut place it's the best" I had heard from at least 4 different people from my town of Baldwin, while this place is in lynbrook. so I'm giving it three stars because my friends from a town or two away like it, even though I think it deserves less than 2 even 0 stars. I even went with a friend who enjoyed her donuts very much and saved one for a day later, and ate it and she enjoyed it very much. I just did not have a good time at all.
The reason why I didn't like this place was because I was heavily expecting donuts. I expected donuts from a fryer and tasting like a real donut like the kinds from Krispy creme or dounkin. It was so exciting to have a good donut place around and all the hype people created made me think there was hope since the kripsys closed in the area but I think this had to be one of the biggest dissapointments I've experienced this year. It could have been because I had very high expectations to begin with, but I ended up with a very thick, very dense, tiny little cake with tons of topping on it. Sure, very creative to be a donut but I'll just say it's a wide thick cupcake and definitely 100% not worth the calories for anyone looking to drop weight but in need of a quick cheat snack.
I was then informed by a very disinterested girl, who knew her stuff but just didn't seem to love her job, that I wouldn't need two donuts but one because it's so dense it would fill me up. I ended up eating two, and being very nauseous from how grossly dense the "donuts" were, AND I still starving after both. I was terribly hungry after 2 dense donuts which is questionable. for the next 3-4 hours of the day I Did not eat because of how heavy the donuts were as they were extremely heavy and dense, though I was starving since I had eaten the 2, and I couldn't really shake how disappointing the donuts were. It's now a day later and my mind is still blown on how much popularity a donut place has gotten though they don't really even make donuts.
The pricing is perfect. The pricing is exactly how much these donuts should cost. They're very cost effiecent and I am shocked at since so much popularity that they would be so cheap. That's a reason they deserve more stars than 0.
In shorter words, you may like it, you may not. Support your local businesses regardless. Tag them in Instagram posts when you try them out, some people may like the dense donuts. The pricing is great and they're not popular for no reason, so you might like it. For me, it was the biggest disappointment and I wish I did not put myself through such a heavy, gross, food just to feel like I'm starving after. There was no line when i went so no comment on service timing. Overall, okay but please someone make...
Read moreNot really sure what to judge the place. While the donuts were very good they all had the same distinctive flavor. I tried 3 different varieties and all three tasted like an old fashioned donut with just a different glaze on top. I am very fond of old-fashioned Donuts so I enjoyed the flavor however for all three to have the same flavor I was very surprised. They didn't taste like a typical pastry donut more like a cake donut. They were delicious when they first came out as they were warm but I actually enjoyed them even more later on when they got colder. The maple flavor was delicious. My friend who I went with didn't enjoy them as much as they don't enjoy an old fashioned flavored donut. All three more just a base of an Old Fashioned so just keep that in mind. I didn't get any of the really fancy flavors as I barely had a chance to look at the menu. I got four steps into the place and the guy said hi can I take your order and I said oh I'm sorry I just want to look for a second and he said oh you're just looking and walked away with disdain.. like I just walked in the door for the first time can I peep the menu out first bud. looked like a really cute and nice setting to sit in and eat the donuts. There was some really cute tables and couches nice decor. Overall the inside smelled delicious and was set up very beautifully. I personally would go back as I like an old fashioned donut but if you don't appreciate that flavor you may want to try one of the fancy flavors or skip altogether. In a nice cute area with other shops where you can walk around a little bit. Pretty reasonably priced especially compared to other donut shops. Looks like a nice place to sit in and have a donut for a few minutes. I believe they also had...
Read moreI wanted to give 3 stars but the employees were nice and the overall atmosphere/set-up of the menu was convenient. Very good pricing transparency too between the standard and premium donuts. They also have a donut bar.
My friends have commented favorably on the rainbow cookie donut although they did not have that this weekend. I had the black and white plus the cinnamon bun while my partner got the Boston cream and the maple bacon. They were good overall. However, the presentation/structure of the donuts were less than ideal. Prices were good (base $3.50) but the Boston cream was basically two holed donuts with cream slathered in between. This was very awkward and difficult to eat. The cinnamon roll donut based on the photo looked like it was a solid one and not a holed pastry. They pipe the cinnamon icing over the hole. I found it too sweet and the ratio of pastry to icing is off given the fact it's done on top of the hole. They should utilize the donut shape without the hole for some of these flavors instead of doing it on top, since this leads to a full bite of icing.
Donuts otherwise were good and excellent flavor assortment. I just would recommend they change how they structure the donuts with more icing!
Parking can be tough around here since it's by the train station. Would likely need to pay for it on the meter...
