Wow. Tried calling to make reservation for a few days, finally spoke to someone who said to make it online - I did - the day comes and my party shows up and get this, we are told they have NO way to access online reservations and it's best to call.. the hostess laughed about it saying "you see, the funny thing is, we can't actually see or confirm online reservations, that's why you should call for them" - when I told her I DID call and was directed online she informs me there are 7 people ahead of us on the wait list and they can't actually start to seat anyone on the list for at least an hour because the kitchen is backed up. When I asked to speak to someone about how inconvenient and unprofessional this all was, she gets up from her stool and walks around the restaurant "looking for someone" and the 2nd hostess says something along the lines of nobody being there to talk to and we could wait or go somewhere else but the decision affected them none. We asked about sitting at the bar to wait and they said they couldn't allow anyone in at that time because everything was backed up, that they have tables and and space but weren't allowing us in at that time. It was embarrassing. A Saturday night and put through that. Driving over an hour to dine there and have a nice night out and that is what we are met with. No manager ever came to speak with us, they never apologized for this and when we asked why they don't shut the online bookings off the 2nd hostess says "it brings people in and they usually choose to wait so we are always full and it shows demand" don't even...
Read moreThis is a review for an event at DOX!
-- We were looking for a place to have a casual, beachy wedding reception and DOX fit the bill! It's an awesome spot with a beer garden vibe right on the water, which made for great photo opps. We worked with Norah, one of the owners, who was a quick and effective communicator and made planning a breeze!
The food was served buffet-style, and it was delicious (we got chopped brisket, Thai chili glazed chicken, pulled pork, and penne ala vodka). It was all great and our friends and family couldn't stop talking about it.
Dox also provided a tent, tables (a mix of round and picnic), tablecloths and chairs. Plates, silverware, and drinkware, too -- all disposable. A floor was also put down over the sand to put some of the tables on. One of the many reasons we love DOX is because of it's laid back, beachy vibe so we wanted to embrace it for this party.
Overall, a really great experience with Norah & DOX and I would 1,000 percent recommend it to anyone who is looking to do something more causal (with water views, to boot!) We had such a great time and hopefully I'll attend another event here in the future... I want more of...
Read moreNot Happy--Food was not good and pricey. My husband and I started off with the Calamari app. It came in a card board french fry holder (the ones you get a t a street fair). The portion was small, totally not worth $15 and the Calamari was average at best. The crab and gruyere grilled cheese($18)--skimpy--barely any crab, the cheese was not melted. There was nothing to it--no tomato, no lettuce. Served with fries and tiny coleslaw in a little plastic container plus they forgot the tomato sauce for dipping. My husband had the fish and chips ($22)--heavily breaded and fried with a drought beer..oh, and a diet coke....the bill came out to $58 before tip. The views are beautiful, the bar is a nice place to have a drink and the there is a nice place with beach sand and Adirondack chairs to sit down and enjoy/relax. The concept is very nice. The food has alot to be desired and it's way too expensive--it cost us close to $70 for street fair food--Horrible--If you want to take a chance and check it out--go for drinks and the views but eat somewhere else. They definitely need to "up their game" with the food. We will not be back and I will not...
