Tucked away in a nondescript corner of the town, this unassuming Greek restaurant might not catch your eye at first, but step inside, and you'll embark on a culinary journey that will leave you craving more.
The restaurant's unpretentious, fast-casual vibe is the perfect backdrop for the star of the show: the food. The menu boasts a delightful array of Greek dishes that are nothing short of amazing. From the moment you take your first bite of the spanakopita, you'll be transported to the streets of Athens. The layers of phyllo dough are perfectly crisp, and the spinach and feta filling is a harmonious blend of flavors.
The gyros are a revelation. Tender slices of marinated meat, fresh vegetables, and creamy tzatziki sauce are nestled in warm pita bread. It's a messy, delightful experience that will keep you coming back for more.
The restaurant doesn't stop at the classics; they infuse their own unique twists into traditional dishes, like a moussaka with a hint of smoky eggplant.
While the ambiance may be simple, the food is a true Greek delight, and the friendly staff adds a warm, welcoming touch. So, if you're in the mood for a delectable Greek meal in a no-frills setting, don't overlook this hidden gem. Read moreDisappointed today with the customer service at Greek Express East Rockaway. We love the food and have been ordering from this location since it opened. We even continue to support this business even though they increased their prices over 30%!! Today, when I got home with my pickup order, I noticed my Greek salad had no feta cheese. I called to let them know and instead of apologizing and offering for me to come back and pick it up or have it delivered, the woman I spoke to said that I did not specify when ordering wanting feta cheese on my Greek salad!?!?! I explained that in all my years ordering from this restaurant, never ever have I ever specifically asked for feta cheese on my Greek salad. It’s always just been there, because that’s what makes it a Greek salad!! So after being put on hold for 3 minutes, I was told that they would credit my account $1.50 since I didn’t get the feta cheese. $1.50??? The salad cost $11.95. So lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber and salad dressing costs $10.45? I paid $4.50 extra for the 3 slivers of grilled chicken so that couldn’t have been added into the cost. I wasn’t even looking for a refund, I was willing to drive back and pick up the feta…it’s that good….but that wasn’t an option. Come on Greek Express, you can do better!! Especially for...
Read more(4/1/22) For context: I came here in search of some greek food and was told by family to go here for greek food, since i am not from around here. I am pretty pessimist boy, who judges others food heavily. I came here with my older brother 20 minutes before the place closed and i felt guilty to order anything.
Staff: The lady and the rest of the staff were EXTREMELY kind, and the lady even offered drinks on the house despite it being very late. The lady was extremely enthusiastic and overall a very nice lady.
Food: To begin, I love love love greek food. Out of the many gyros I have tried, this was EASILY the BEST lamb gyros I’ve ever had. Unlike some of the gyros lamb, the lamb was extremely good. I could’ve ate the lamb itself. The Tzatziki sauce was very good too and overall it was filling. The gyro itself probably weighed around 2 pounds.
Piece: The price was very fair for the serving size. The total was around $23 (including tax) for two lamb gyros with everything on it.
I hope the lady behind the cashier, the 2 boys that worked there (who were very nice), and the chefs have an amazing future with that business. Seriously....
