Update
Thank you for your response. I am not dissatisfied with your menu structure. I stated below , I was willing to pay the extra. My error was trusting the up charge would be fair. The mistake was not asking for the exact cost. Now we’re both on solid ground. I know to ask for the exact cost of any substitutions. Until we meet again, thank for the clarifications
The food industry can be overwhelming, and you can’t give the store away but there is a way to meet the dietary needs of your customer within the limits of the menu, make your money without pilfering the customer. I always enjoy Hush's environment and my go to meal is Brown Stew Tofu, 86 rice. Server would ask “if something” else instead of rice and I'd always double up on the veggies(no charge). But on 3/1/25 instead of rice, I asked for Plain Pasta. Response: "We can’t do that.” Finally it was concluded, yes, but I will have to pay extra to get a side of Plain Pasta instead of rice. No problem (believing the price would be fair). The bill arrived and I was charged for an entire Penne pasta meal for $21 plus my tofu meal (86th rice) for $20. $41 for 6 pieces of Tofu, veggie and a side Plain Pasta compared to the cost of Your Most Expensive meal Curry Seafood at $48 or Lobster tail or $37 I told the manager I was not going to pay $21 for Plain Pasta, it was a sub not at plus. He said, "We don’t do that here, if I wanted pasta, I had to be charged a price for a meal”.( He later discounted the price of Plain Pasta to $12). I suggested a charge for a side of rice, then verbal to the kitchen that it was pasta. This verbal is done on many occasions. I also suggest maybe going forward to put pasta as a side dish. The manager then said “It’s not profitable“🤦🏽♀️ I can see why it’s not profitable to have pasta as a side for $5 or ,$7 when you charge a person $21 for a whole pasta dish when they only want a side Plain Pasta. I enjoy Hush but going forward, I will drink your drinks but it will be a while before I purchase your food again.
Note: I am not displeased at the servers because they do as they are instructed. There's no...

I recently visited Hush restaurant and lounge after a friend insisted we go there, she’s a regular and had nothing but glowing reviews about the place. Although I had another restaurant in mind, I agreed to meet her at hush, arriving at 4:13 PM (the restaurant’s posted opening time was 4 PM).
Initial Red Flags: The doors were still locked when we arrived. A staff member wiping the windows had to ask permission to let us in, definitely not the most welcoming start. Once inside, we were the only customers, which was fine, but things quickly took a turn.
Unprofessional Management & Inconsistent Service: Our waiter, Roshaun, took our drink orders, and I requested an iced coffee after seeing several being made. However, we were told by the manager/owner that we couldn’t have one! apparently, they’re only served during Sunday brunch. Later, it was clarified that those were for the staff. That alone felt like a slap in the face as a paying customer.
When I tried ordering a different drink, I was told it wasn’t available either. It didn’t stop there, my original food order (jerk chicken) wasn’t available due to lack of prep from the previous day. I had to settle for whatever they did have, even though the full menu was still being presented.
Long Wait & Misplaced Priorities: We waited over an hour for our food. Meanwhile, the manager/owner was busy on his phone the entire time. To add insult to injury, 2 guests who arrived an hour after us received their food first, including the manager himself.
Bright Spots: Despite all the issues, there were a few highlights: • Roshaun (our waiter) was attentive and kind, consistently checking in on us. • Lani (bartender) made a great drink. • Chef Gavin personally apologized and even gave me a sample of the jerk chicken I originally wanted.
Final Thoughts: The food was actually good, but the poor management, long wait, and lack of transparency left a sour taste. I likely won’t return, there are too many other places where I can spend my money and feel appreciated as a...
Read moreI want to start off by saying that I was a bit hesitant on posting this review because it is a black owned business. However I hope the owner and management see this as a way to improve. I came here on a Sunday afternoon during the transition period from brunch to dinner. I was then told that we would have to wait till 5:00 for dinner to start but we can have a seat at the bar in the meantime. I ordered a piña colada which I could automatically tell was not made from scratch and it tasted very artificial, and my partner ordered the rum punch which he enjoyed. A little bit after five we asked if we could be moved to a table. During this time the restaurant was slow and there were not many people, there were about four different groups of people spread throughout the establishment. My partner and I were visibly looking back and forth trying to catch the attention of the waitresses ,however they were all grouped up near the kitchen talking to the cooks. They weren’t trying to act like they were busy. We were so fed up that we finally asked the bartender in desperation if someone can please come to our table to take our order. It took 35 minutes for a waitress to finally arrive at our table. She apologized and said that she did not know that she was assigned to our table. I understand that miscommunications happen however the restaurant was not packed and the customer service was seriously slacking. After finally placing our orders , it took 40 MINUTES for our food to arrive. The waitress apologize again and said that there were a couple of orders in front of ours. However the restaurant was slow, and I don’t know where all these imaginary orders came from. The food finally arrived and the Rasta pasta was mediocre at best. Definitely not a spot that’s worth coming to if you’re looking to enjoy a good meal and customer service....
