Elmont Road Park — Attraction in Town of Hempstead

The park is not huge but good for the neighborhood. It has parking and restrooms which is a plus. There is a playground for young children. Also, a basketball and handball court. Small trail for running and bike riding. Not much of a picnic park though there are tables and benches to sit and eat. Dog friendly. FYI, there is construction going on in the park for expansion. I really enjoyed this park. It's been a while since I've been here but... it was nice to come back and shoot hoops. Made 8 out of 20 from 3 and shot the ball for an hr. Not bad for a middle aged guy, who's had 3 debilitating injuries & surgeries and had constant physical therapy for over 6 yrs. This park used to be a robust playground with kid bridges, monkey bars - high and low play areas. It now looks anemic. Some of the more complicated play that challenged kids is gone.
