Malverne Deli — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

My sister went there wearing a mask because she is trying to be cautious about covid. No one was wearing masks inside which she was fine with as am I. She respects people’s freedoms and choices. The man behind the counter taking someone else’s order started pumping his fist with another customer while saying “covid isn’t real” and looking directly at my sister. I felt bad she had this experience as I frequent this deli and felt very disappointed at the staff for their behavior.

She didn’t ask me to write this. She had decided to just never return again and take her business elsewhere. I wrote this because I was disappointed and think the manager needs to be aware of the behavior of his staff. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I think mocking a customers concerns is a bit more then disrespectful. All my a sister wanted to do was buy some food. She is very polite and keeps to herself. As well as this type of behavior does nothing to have other people sympathize with your point of view. I hope the manager and staff realize that. I ordered the " fit panini " from grubhub menu. It's grilled chicken, mozzarella cheese, tomato, basil, roasted red peppers and balsamic vinaigrette. I didn't get cheese on it but Jesus it could've been compensated by putting more roasted peppers, basil and tomatoes. Instead I got all this chicken and one tiny piece of roasted pepper. Love the food! I have been eating at this deli for years but i am suprised to see the lack of precautions they are taking to provide safety to its customers. They as most deli's i have seen do not change gloves from preparing your food and receiving payment. This is just not exceptable during these times.
