This review is so overdue, but also so much deserved. I don’t live anywhere near Malverne Pastry, but I’ve had a couple cakes from them over the years and could never forget HOW delicious they were. I’m not even a big cake eater or into bakery goods, but their cakes were just THAT good!!! I remember a fresh strawberry and banana cake and that really stood out as the best cake I’ve ever tasted! My baby shower was last November so even though my shower was almost an hour away in Bay Shore, I had to order my cake from them and luckily my friend who lives close to here was able to pick up for me. I called n spoke w/Madeline and explained how I was looking for a jungle/animal themed cake. I was going to order the fresh strawberry and banana filling, but decided to try their house made “creme legere” filling that someone else was raving about in another review I read. Madeline said it was their most popular n that it was a mix of whipped cream and custard along with fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. …Just wow! Everybody at my shower was raving about it and loved it that much! It was really a crowd pleaser and just delicious on top of being gorgeous!! I’ve been a customer for years!! Malverne makes theee best cakes I’ve had so far. I normally order over the phone and have my dad pick it up but the last time was a last minute order I drove from jersey to LI back to jersey just for my grandmother’s dinner party, I went into the bakery everyone was very nice but when it was time to pay my card declined and the order women became very rude. She yelled “your card declined” I didn’t feel anyway because I knew I had the money I just wasn’t sure why it declined I asked her “can you give me a sec to check” she said “I don’t have a second please pay me” … I ignored her rudeness and checked anyway and as I’m clearing it on my account she proceeds to say “I don’t have all day, I have other customers” I told her “ok, it’s ok to handle your other customers I’m not going anywhere” she then says “ok you just won’t get the cake” and now I am getting upset because as a women of color I couldn’t help to think this is why she is being so rude. I asked to speak with a manager and she screamed “you are talking to one” …. Because I couldn’t show up to my grandmother home without a cake I handed her my card made a payment and vowed never to return. I have never felt so embarrassed and disrespected. I have never experienced this type of customer service from them before. As good as their cakes are… I will no longer...

Despite the fact that they were closing in just five minutes, the staff was incredibly accommodating and helpful when it came to finding the perfect pastry for my taste.

The level of customer service provided by the staff was simply outstanding, making you feel welcome and valued as a customer. Their willingness to go above and beyond even though they were closing soon really made a positive impression on me.

In terms of the pastries themselves, they were absolutely delicious. You could really taste the quality and care that goes into each and every one of their products. It's clear that they take great pride in what they do, and that shows in the quality of their baked goods.
