Came here a bit late on a Monday night for dinner. My friends had been telling me how good this place is for quite awhile, so when the taco cravings kicked in Taco El Chingon answered the call.
The place might be a little on the small side but don't let that fool you, this place is packed with plenty of flavor. The interior is trendy and clean, a couple of places to sit if you feel inclined to stay awhile, but you can take out just as easily too.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars for service, the woman behind the counter was sweet as could be and had no problem serving us even though we came in so late. Food also came out quick.
Food was excellent and dare I say some of the best tacos I've ever had! We had the chips and guac to start and everything was as fresh as could be. The tacos we got were the carnitas, the chicken, beef rib, the Al pastor, and the carne asada. It's hard to pick just one favorite, but if you're only having one taco (like some sort of crazy person) my pick is on the carnitas. Perfectly juicy and flavorful. And let me tell you, they don't shy away from stuffing these tacos full, you get every last penny worth. Honorable mention to the chicken, a lot of places just phone their chicken in, but their chicken is actually good and flavorful! They have such a vast menu of a dozen other options at least that I want to try that will keep me coming back for more.
Parking can be a little tight in the shared lot when it's busy, but there is also some side street parking available too if you don't mind a...
Read moreI think they must have different chefs on different days. Some days their food is amazing. Today was not great. Everytime I visit I get the exact same bean, rice, cheese, and guacamole burrito. Today it was mostly rice and incredibly salty. And instead of sprinkling the cheese into the food inside the burrito, they placed it on top today and it was like a burnt rubber mat. Usually the burrito comes with about 10 corn chips. Today there were 5 chips. (Otherwise service would have received 4 stars.) The orange sauce that they call Mexican crème today tasted like it might just be thousand island dressing from a jar. Oh well. I'll be back because I was really wowed by the flavors the previous times I visited. Today was below expectation. I noticed new staff. Laura is no longer at the register. Maybe different owners? If the burrito is this bad next time, I'll try nearby Taco el Chingons and see if I can find where Laura and...
Read moreDecided to try a different place for some Mexican Take-Out. This place did not disappoint and is probably our new go-to. So many selections. We got kids chicken tacos, Huarache Especial Grilled Steak, Chicken Quesadilla, Birria, and Combo El Chingon Chicken. It was all delicious and fresh. Portions were nice size. My only two suggestions would be to label all the salsas and sauces. We got 5 different kinds and a few were all the same color, with a slightly different hue. We had to have someone that wanted the spicy one taste them all, so we could figure out who got which with their order. Only other thing is the overabundance of tomato in the guac kind of ruined the guac for me. It wasn't just a little bit, it was completely unavoidable. Other than those two small things, the food was really great. Definitely worth a try if your thinking of getting food from here. We will certainly...
