Mikado is a hidden gem in Lynbrook, The best sushi spot in the area hands down.

A lot of towns have a local sushi restaurant or two, or three, so it's tough to know where to go. Sushi is also one of those foods that people are hesitant of because its raw, so you have to go to a trustworthy spot. I can say from years of experience that Mikado is as good as it gets. The sushi is FRESH and delicious. All of the cuts are vibrantly colored and have the right firmness to them, so you can tell they are on top of their product quality.

Whenever I go to a new sushi spot, I try some of their signature rolls, but I also try a spicy tuna roll as a metric - Mikado has a great spicy tuna! You want a place that can do the basics well, and Mikado has a great roll no matter what you order.

Mikado is also very consistent with their product. I've been in sushi restaurants where all the pieces of the roll, or pieces of sashimi are different shapes and sizes. This shows a lack of concern and finesse. It also doesn't guarantee that you'll have the same experience each time you go back. Mikado always puts out a great plate of food.

They also have hot entrees in case sushi is not your thing. Their Salmon Dream is amazing, the Chicken Katsu is perfect, and the Bento boxes are great.

They can also cater to big parties, I've had 30 people go there and all of the food was consistently great.

Their delivery service is top notch as well. It's fast and the food maintains its quality beautifully. I can honestly say there is no loss in experience if you're a local. I have no experience with their delivery service outside the town of Lynbrook.

As someone that is a picky eater and looks for food excellence, I strongly recommend...

Fresh, flavorful and fantastic sushi rolls. First time here and I indulged in their signature Mikado Roll, Naruto & the Black Dragon. Had some Ikura on the side to add a bit of saltiness to the sweet mango sauce. Love sitting at the sushi bar to see the knife work and presentation unfolding in front of me. The chefs were very congenial, offered a nice appetizer of tuna on the house, and basically made the whole experience worth it. Updated 5/18/2021: 1st time I was here a lil' over a year ago, Covid had not hit us... been waiting to come back ever since. Just ordered what I had last time minus the Naruto roll. The aroma is amazing right now. Not sure what another table ordered but I think that's what I'm having next time. Fewer tables since last time and no sitting at sushi bar. #SafeEats...

I ordered to-go from here recently and just had to share how amazing the customer service was—it truly went above and beyond. My husband actually placed the order for me while I was on my way into town, and when I picked it up, I was surprised there was an amount due since we usually prepay when ordering for each other. I figured he was just distracted or busy, so I paid and left without thinking much of it.

To my surprise, they called me afterward to let me know they had accidentally double charged me! The woman I spoke with was so kind and let me know to call back when I had a chance so they could fix it, since I mentioned I was driving. I really appreciated the honesty and care they showed.

And on top of that; The food was absolutely chef’s kiss—so delicious. I will 100% be making this a regular stop whenever I’m coming in or out of town....
