Mizuno Japanese Cuisine — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Have eaten here 3 times in 2024. Went today for lunch on a Friday and it was so good - I had to leave a review. For reference- we always dine-in on a Friday or Saturday. Have tried many other sushi places in Garden City, Bellmore, Merrick, Wantagh and this is hands down the very best that we have tried. Quality of the fish and a very clean establishment are top of my list and Mizuno meets both requirements. Calm, welcoming atmosphere and you are able to see the chefs preparing the food. Had kani salad, avocado salad (fresh avocado and crunchy lettuce - absolutely nothing but fresh fresh fresh), spicy crunchy tuna roll (tuna was as light as air and zero “fishy” taste- again as fresh as can be) and a California roll topped with sliced fish and tobiko. We also had an out of control roll which is our ‘go to’ roll- delicious. Our server was very attentive and we never waited more than a few minutes for anything. very very poor service. I always order from this place online since I can easily pay it with PayPal including the tip. today I placed an order as usual then the delivery didn't come until 7:30, the estimated delivery time was 7:15. when I called and asked about the order she told me that it was on its way. I waited till 8:10 and order didn't come. I called again and she goes she doesn't see the order. so what about 40 minutes ago she saw and order and now it disappeared? instead of apologizing she basically called me an idiot for placing such simple order online. I basically order from this place every week and this is not what I have expected to get. if she made a mistake and not gave me a correct information she should've apologized instead of calling me an idiot. that way I wouldn't have waited this long for nothing. really disappointed with their service. oh and there was one delivery person from here wouldn't come near the door because...

Great sushi, reasonable prices, fresh fish. Mizuno has been one of our go-tos since moving to Merrick. We typically order a couple of specialty rolls and then round out our meal with the three roll special (pick any three, plus miso soup & salad all for $15).

Most of the kitchen appetizers are good too if you’re looking for a few land based selections, but I found the sushi appetizers a little small for the price. For example, the salmon chalaca consists of four bite sized morsels of salmon & tuna wrapped around fresh mango slices...for $12. For that price, I’d rather snag another specialty roll or something more substantial from the kitchen.
