First, so everyone knows, ownership changed. Ralph was an owner and is no longer there.
So I stroll in last month around 7am, ordered tuna on a whole wheat bagel. The young service rep asks if I want cole slaw or another side because it cones with the bagel. I said no, just the bagel please. A few minutes later she has the bagel in a lunch container with a pickle. I don't like pickles, something is up methinks.... add with my drink I'm figuring $8-9 because that's pretty much what I pay in NYC. $13 and change.
I question how she arrived at that price and her first response is, effectively, something on the order of "that's what the register says". Now I'm getting upset.
So I start itemizing verbally, and a coworker comes in and we collectively arrive at $8-9 based on the menu prices and the coworkers estimate of what 4 oz of tuna would cost me. So I ask what the other $4 is for then, because for the third time I stated I just want the bagel and tuna. Their response, we charge the lunch platter. Now I'm really pissed at 7am.
So they escalate to a more senior person and she is in a fighting mood, visually, vindictive attitude is all over her face. She then proceeds to take the bagel and intends to remove enough tuna to arrive at 4oz. I asked for my money back and walked out.
The perfect scenario to lose a customer.
I go down the street near Stop & Shop. I order exactly the same way, same bagel, same tuna. No questions asked, no fuss, $8 and change. ...
Read moreThis is one of the few places on Long Island that carry gluten free bagels, which come from No Gluten Kneaded. When I actually get my order, it's delicious, but I have never in my life dealt with staff that were so disgustingly rude.
Normally I call my order in ahead of time because I understand the GF bagels sell out and they only have limited quantity a week. Twice now I've placed my order for pick up, only to arrive and find out they don't have any GF bagels. Obviously, this is something I wish they'd tell me ahead of time because then I'm left without breakfast for the day.
Today I called in my order and asked if they could confirm if they had GF bagels before I made my way over there. The woman on the phone was so rude and said "I have a line I'm not running back and forth to check if it's there." I tried explaining that I just didn't want to get there to find out they didn't have one and she HUNG UP ON ME!
I'm sorry- I know you're busy, I called during a busy time of morning, but are you kidding??? Put me on hold or something, I'm willing to be patient. Not to mention, I'm a paying customer too. One who is paying an additional $4 for my order since it has to be gluten free.
I'm really going to have to find another location that has these bagels because I don't want to give this location...
Read moreFreshest and tastiest bagels ever! However, the girl helping was probably having a bad Monday. After a long line (of course), I ordered 1 breakfast box and almost 15 min later, she comes back with 2. I said: I ordered 1, not 2. Her response: but you said 2 coffees, and there is someone else with you, l assumed you wanted 2 bkfsts. So yes, two of the same and the boss is there, just listening and staring at us. Me: you know what, I am sorry you are having a bad day. It's ok, we will take both orders and give it to a person in need. Instead of starting my day on a bad note, we will make someone else's day (We actually gave it to a homeless person who spends his day outside of King Kullen on Hempstead Tpke / Gardiners Ave). She took the money and she was still giving me my change when she started helping the next customer on the line. Not even a "thank you" but I guess it is too...
