The old Lynbrook Diner that closed down some years ago and sat untouched had reopened, renovsted and I am happy to report, its quite good. I have fond memories of taking my son to the old Lynbrook Diner when he was younger and sitting at the counter for a weekend breakfast together. Sure the seats were shackey, there were water stains in the ceiling, but the service and food were very good. It was our place to bond. Fast forward some years and the place is fully renovated as the Big Apple Diner under new ownership. A visit to the area on a business trip had me sitting back at the old counter but now on more solid new swivel chairs, with bright lights and clean, yet retro feel of a classic diner.. The prices are higher, as to be expected, but the food I had was very good. My go to is over easy eggs with the thick variety breakfast sausage and potatoes. The eggs were cooked fine, maybe a little lighter than medium, but good enough. The sausage was the star. Thick and juicy with a nice snap to the skin. This is not your typical overcooked, reheated dry sausage. This was perfection. In fact I enjoyed it so much, I came back a few days later for another try and it was just as good. The home fries were fine as were the fries I tried on the 2nd visit. Coffee is just typical diner average but refills were served frequently so your cup was always hot. Service was friendly and everyone on staff I spoke with was pleasant and concerned for your well being. I know the next time I am in town, I will be back again. Glad to see this location with an ample free parking lot, back in action, serving Lynbrook again.

Came here from Queens on advice of my Koumbaro. Best idea for Saturday evening dinner with the family. Actually everyday. The kids meals are very generous in portions and very good price. We had the two pork chops with apple sauce. Cooked to perfection, done all the way through and juicy! We also had a beet salad, I added skirt steak. It was cooked to my request and went well on top of the beets and goat cheese on the salad. Very recommended

First time to red apple diner with my husband. Service excellent! Waitress was very nice and friendly. I ordered Romanian Steak and eggs, asked for Medium rare but was given well done, ask the waitress for a change and they change it and gave me a full meal with medium rare steak. The chef even came out to apologize, service excellent! Food came out Hot and tasty!

The greeter was nice and attentive that’s the only nice part, he even checked to see if we were ok. The rest was just really not worth going to eat there. The waitresses are horrible. I tried to give this place a few tries and every single time it’s nothing but disappointing. Waitresses are always on the phone even if we’re ready and waiting to order. My soup is forgotten or when reminded I’m given attitude. Then my soup is nice and cold. I hear the chefs complaining and yelling. The waitresses are annoyed to even bring extra napkins or straws bc none are on the table and act as if they’re doing you a favor by bringing anything to you like a fork or spoon to eat with OR they just don’t bring you anything. I get it can get hectic but this happens even when it’s not busy, they stay in the front on their phones and don’t even check on the food or customers. MY FOOD IS also NEVER HOT or the cheese isn’t melted or it’s not what was ordered. it’s just sad because they use to be a good diner with good service now idk what’s gone wrong. I have to take my family to Rockville Centre or somewhere further just to give them good food and nice service. I just wasted money on cold food that’s is not only overpriced but also doesn’t even taste that great. Would not recommend ever. Save your money and find somewhere nicer and friendlier and cleaner that would be worth the...

Me and my partner went to this diner July 11 and firstly. I ask the host if we could sit somewhere comfortable. She said no and decided she was going to pick for us. I should have known red flag number 1. The second thing is we order drinks and got it in a small glass equivalent to 4 shot glasses because the server assumed we couldn't afford the regular glass. He kept saying that it's more expensive which we could clearly saw the prices on the menu.We ended up getting the regular glass because we are adults. Young adults but still adults. The toast was burnt -0/10 so we didnt eat any. The eggs were 5/10 but the pancakes were very dry 2/10. The pancakes tasted like they had it sat for a while then pre heated them before serving it to us. Host and server that morning were rude, judgemental and we will not being visiting again. We left no tip at...
