Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Giving a rating of 3 stars mainly due to the service at the counter, not the product. The girl who they have working there was not very communicative and non responsive due to a wrong charge on the frozen custard to go. My sister bought her 2 quarts of frozen custard for $8 each and then I went to make my purchase for a pint of frozen custard and the girl behind the counter tells me it’s $8. I asked her how come I am paying for the amount of a quart? Makes no sense at all. She looked very complex. Barely any eye contact. So she then proceeds to fill up a quart instead of just filling up another pint (which as you know 2 pints make a quart 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️) but she didn’t look too bright at all. So I just went for the quart size for the $8. I go look in my bag and the quart wasn’t even filled up , she left a lot of room at the top of the container. Disappointed to say the least. But dispute that situation the frozen custard is...

Place is dark dank and has a dismal ambiance..and that’s before you even get to the abysmal count of flavor’s offered…and lastly to top it off their process of preparing the ice for packing for takeout is egregiously poor because it seems before you literally pay then turn to leave the ice is now a flavored water…I’ve been twice and once with my Wife and been disappointed three times across the board …There won’t be a fourth..” “I rather travel to Rita’s Flagship spot in Philly where I’ll get more than 10 flavors offered plus the process and preparation of a REAL WATER ICE!!” and to boot my favorite flavor which Franklin Square never has…...

If you have not heard of this place, you have not truly lived life. Rita's is a happiness sanctuary, unaffected by politics, finances, worldly affairs or even medical stress. After that first spoonful of mango ice and frozen vanilla custard you are carried to a a realm far beyond your imagination. As the taste dissolves and your senses return to you, you are whisked back to reality, so you quickly spoon another spoonful into your mouth.
